Not very much. Epithelial cells are skin cells and when they're found in the urine, it suggests that the urine sample came into contact with the skin on the way out. This lets the doctor know that the results of the remainder of the urine test may be falsely affected by this skin contact.

Usually, a urine sample with 2-5 epithelial cells/hpf is not very contaminated and the results of the remainder of the urine test are still useful.
