i sometimes think im ugly just because i can't take a good picture. that means im one of those that look 10 times uglier in pictures than in person. and i would stick that picture of myself in my mind and think to myself thats how i ugly i truly am to make myself feel bad. i know im not fat for the an average american but im fat in my own mind. i keep comparing myself to when i was in 10th grade, now 12th. in 10th grade i was 85 pounds, 5'1, now im 105 pounds, 5'1. my mom says im being hard on myself but i cant help it. she says gaining weight is part of growing up but i cant make myself accept the way i am. theres always something i want to change and if only i can change it ill be happy. : )

I think you should see your doctor, talk to them about it, they may recommend a psychologist, because it could be a disorder that could harm you.
Its not about being a perfectionist, that is hurting yourself.

And you are too thin.

Sounds like you are getting something 'positive' about feeling so bad about yourself. What need could it be satisfying in you? I'd start there. If you can identify the need, ask yoursel f where this need is coming from. Get some counseling. Meanwhile, if you can figure out where the need is coming from, think of something else that could satisfy the need without damaging yourself mentally or physically. EX. Suppose I hit my head against the wall because I felt angry. Well, I might not figure out why I'm angry right away, but if I took up martial arts, at least I'd be dealing with it in a healthier way.

The first thing you should realize is that there are people out there who have actual physical disabilities. People have lost limbs, gain weight, lose weight, have skin problems...they all can live happy lives. No matter what you look like the inside is what attracts people. Your body language and expressions are what show confidence. Confidence is sexy no matter WHAT you look like. Try not to worry so much about what you look like now because you are still growing into what you are meant to be.

I was a TOTAL late bloomer. Tall (almost 6 ft), awkward, even my hair was bad. People made fun of me constantly in high school, so bad I quit going for a while. Now I am a model, among other things. No one knew who I was at the reunion! It was awesome. Everyone wanted to talk to me, sit with me...all the people who made my life hell in school. It was nice being able to smile and tell them who I was. The looks on their faces. Ha ha!

Its a rough time right now. Hang in there and love yourself for who you are. NO ONE is perfect. If you are worried about your weight, could you join a gym? Exercise is one of the best ways to pull yourself up emotionally, and you'll be in great shape too!

Good luck to you hun. Keep your chin up. Everyone goes through this at one time or another. :)

Lots of the time when we have a lot of turmoil inside and we can't label it or we can't face it, even if it's completely subconscious, we turn to something more outside of ourselves. It's easier to deal with weight issues and ugliness issues and put a name on them ("I'm fat," "I'm ugly"), than it is to label vague and unsettling feelings. Maybe in your family you don't go around saying, "I am so worried about being a senior and having to grow up and leave home. How am I supposed to cope all by myself? When I think of going away to college I get so scared I just want to puke." Lots of parents don't know how to deal with strong feelings from their kids so by the time their kid is a senior that kid has learned to stuff feelings and couldn't name them if they were sitting right in front of her. But the same parents are still loving and willing to help and if the same kid says she's fat or ugly the same parents can say, no, no, you're being too hard on yourself. But the problem isn't solved because you're going around the real issue.

So I would urge you to talk to your mom and dad and explain that this is about more than outside stuff, that you're in turmoil inside and need to see a counselor. It's going to be a hard conversation, but unless you start making some changes in your life you'll be limping along and not really living life to the fullest. If you just cannot talk to your parents, you must go to your school counselor or a friend's parents or a trusted relative or call your local mental health center. It doesn't mean you're crazy. It means you need some help and it takes a lot of strength to ask for help.

Good luck! You can do it!!

Have you ever thought you can still look ugly if your thin in a photograph. Its called not being photogenic. Im not attractive and im not ugly but i just dont take good photos. It annoys me too but there anint anything i can do its about the person inside. Believe me if you were beautiful you would love yourself and other people would hate you.
Give yourself a break thats the way you are get used to it! or change it!
