Unless your dad owns a restaurant you don't have much chance becoming a sous chef right out of school. This is a competitive business and unless you are some sort of prodigy you'll start as line cook. The figures in the first answer are accurate plus the kind answerer gave you a great source for this sort of info.

You can go to your state's DOL and find out the prospects for future jobs in the food service field.

Entry level Sous Chef Salary runs between $32,000 - $50,000 DOE, location, volume of the restaurant, etc.
