This really makes me mad and hurt. What should I do?

If he invites me does it mean he's serious about me?

Let him go visit his family.
Should you carry on with being mad and hurt over such a trivia issue, you may end up losing him.
You can always tell how a man will treat you by the way he treats his Mother and/or sister.
Be glad that he is family-oriented.
And yes. Should he invite you, then he is quite serious about you.
But just because he doesn't invite you doesn't mean that he isn't serious about you. It could be that he just would like to spend some alone time with his family.
Either way, stop taking it personal.

One question comes to mind, have you been excluded? or are you excluding yourself?
And why not make deals, two days with his family, two with yours, if neither of you are making an effort to invite one another or share time with each others families then your relationship needs a close review.

Go with him.
If you plan on having a long term relationship it will be helpful to know his family.
His parents are probably going to not be around long and these family gatherings are important.
Remember what you sow can come back to bite you. Think about what you will want your future child to do when it comes to his turn to decide.

Ask him why you are not welcomed to join him, and split the time between families.

im goin thru the same thing right now, and i am just tryna deal with it... i cant go w/ my bf, because all my family, and my kids family is here :(
