I am ALWAYS cold. I'm shivering as I write this out. I don't think I'm sick -- I've always been this way. I'm not anemic or anything, but is there some way to stay warm other than bundling up everyday?

One thing to add -- I don't really eat meat. Maybe I need more iron or protein?

Cold intolerance can be an indication of a metabolic problem.

Some people (often very slender women) do not tolerate cold environments simply because they have minimal body fat and are unable to keep warm.

Common Causes
General poor health
Anorexia nervosa
Hypothyroidism
Chronic severe illness such as familial hypopituitarism.; hypothalamic dysfunction
Malnutrition
Dieting
Drug reactions

If you don't eat red meat; your diet might be deficient in iron and thus contribute to your being anemic and cold. Proteins can be obtained from other food sources such as nuts, salmon fish, nuts, legumes, etc. Other causes of cold intolerance might be poor circulation; hypothryoidism; hunger or lack of sleep.

A warm bath or shower and exercise would certainly improve your circulation. How about drinking some warm drinks such as hot chocolates? Warm socks go a long way.

The basic idea behind staying warm starts with the idea that there is no such thing as cold only the absence of heat. I 'm going to guess that you are thin person w/o much muscle mass or body fat. What's happening is that your 98.6 degrees is being rapidly lost to the environment and you have neither the muscle mass to rapidly replace it nor the fat to prevent losing all that heat
You need to do three things
Keep your body dry
Prevent that heat from leaving
Have sufficient energy stores available to replace it when it does
The first layer is the most important -think wet suit
you want a snug fitting garment that is NOT cotton sitting next to your skin. The gament will trap air and at the same time it will wick moisture away from your skin bc a wet body chills more rapidly then a dry body does. Your next layer will be bulkier but essentially perform the same function. In a outdoor situation your last layer would be windproof shell garment which would prevent wind from pulling heat away from you.
Your head radiates about 60 % of your body so wering a hat will also help out.
If you eat like a hiker or a diabetic -small quantities of food at hourly intervals -you should have enough enegry stores to maintain body heat
Be careful about consuming vasodialotors in cold weather -coffee ,alcohol chocolate bc their use will cause greater heat loss.

Well, you can try warming up in the morning by going out for a jog. Try to stay active and keep the blood flowing. Wearing several layers should keep you warm. Maybe you can invest in a heating system for your house. Drink warm fluids in the morning and throughout the day. Also, if you are really desperate, you can gain a lot of weight because fat helps keep you warm.
