I was wondering what kind of paint Bob Ross uses so I can start painting soon. I think it's oil paint but I'm not sure if it's his own special brand and if it is readily available at my local "Michael's" art store. ALSO, what would I use to clean my brushes during painting? Odorless paint thinner like Bob did? If anyone could tell me what kind of paint it is, where I could get it, and what would I use to clean them it would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can actually buy a Bob Ross painting set, I believe. Check out Dick Blick on the web and do a search. It is oil paints and if I were buying paints, I wouldn't buy his set. Grumbacher or Rembrant would be my choice. You can use Oderless paint thinner to clean oil paint from you brushes, but you will also want to get a brush cleaning cake. Good luck.

just plain oil paint will do. There is a Bob Ross line of products but it is not necessary to use them to paint. Oil paint is oil paint. Student grade has more fillers and is cheap, artist grade has fewer fillers and is a bit more expensive and professional grade has no fillers and is the most expensive.

If you are new to painting then start out with the student grade paints and get better quality paints as you improve your skills.

Odorless paint thinner is available in most any art supply store, but you should still use it in a well ventilated area.

that oil paint is oil paint is highly inaccurate. you dont specifically need bob ross brand paint but you do need a really thick oil paint to do it. i tried with one that wasn't thick becaus ei had it sitting around the houe and it definitely did not work.

I don't know but just remember when you are painting that every tree needs a friend.
