Tonight my "check gauges" light came on. The volt meter gauge pegged over to the far left and the engine began to overheat. I was able to get it home but I havent had a chance to look at it as it was in the middle of the night. I did pop the hood and the motor was wet and there was quite a bit of steam coming out. I also noticed that there was green coolant splattered on the engine and under the car. The final thing I noticed was that the oil pressure gauge went to L. The car just hit 60K miles

I would check the engine oil. If it's really low, or it looks like there is granules or green coolant in it, you probably blew a head gasket. If the oil looks good, then you either have a bad thermostat, bad water pump, or a busted hose.

Don't worry about the other nasty comments, any car can have that happen.

I own an '08 save away from Durango SLT 4.7L to boot. this is been an incredible motor vehicle so a approaches and that i've got placed 80K on it. i've got bought Durangos for the previous 12 years and have in no way had a difficulty with certainly one of them aside from a transmission problem with a 2000 Durango. I often tension mine until eventually they attain approximately 130000 miles and that they do extremely nicely. i might advise changing the oil each and every 3000 miles (that's what I do with mine). only persist with the upkeep schedule interior the lower back of the vendors handbook and you may plan to maintain it for years and destiny years. Why do no longer you tell those idiots who think of the 4.7 is carriers to grease sludge to circulate fly a kite! i think of you have have been given an incredible motor vehicle! good luck!

Check the upper radiator hose, the one that the radiator cap was ingeniously molded into. It is prone to leak and would cause the problems that you listed, except for low oil pressure.

your water pump is leaking because the bushings are loose, the poose and wet pulley let the belt sling off, and your alternator had nothing to turn it. the oil pressure gauge may have went low because you overheated it. the oil will lose its viscosity at extreme temps.

It's a DODGE, what can you expect??? kidding :-)

Could it be the radiator? It's the most common cause of overheating.... or else the thermostat, but it wouldn't do all that other stuff. That's basically what my car did when the radiator went out.
