I heard a question a little while ago and it got me thinking. The question was 'If you could ask god one question, what would it be?'. Now this question is deceptively simple, because 1. you are allowed to ask only one question and 2. once you had asked your question you would not get a second chance. Think about it, if you got a chance to ask a question of someone who knew everything, only one question ever, and you asked a stupid question you would have to live the rest of your life wondering what you could have found out, what secrets you could have known.
So my question is, If you could ask god only one question ever, with no limits on what subjects or secrets could be the topic, what would be your question?
P.S.
For any atheist or person who does not believe in a single deity, please replace god with any other concept you wish. PLEASE DO NOT say that you do not believe in god so therefore you can't answer, you will only waste everyone’s time and your answer will not be considered.
Thanks.

I'd ask what the winning lottery numbers will be in the next mega New York lottery. ***Just kidding. Just wanted to add a little humor. I'm not so sure that I'd have a question. I know the end will come, it doesn't really matter when. It's coming regardless if I know the date or not. I know I am forgiven, saved, and will go to Heaven, so there is no reason to ask that question either. Knowing who is, or who isn't, in Heaven doesn't really matter since I can't change it anyway. So I don't really think I'd have a good question ***** Oh yeah, on second thought maybe I'd ask what the cure for cancer is- -or better yet, I'd ask how/what can we do to bring more people to Christ=salvation.

The first thing that came to mind when I read your details was an episode of Star Trek (TOS)...the Menagerie when Spock was on trial for trying to take Captain Pike to the forbidden planet. The Admiral asked him "why" at one point thereby opening the door for Spock to offer any evidence he wanted to answer the question.
I think I'd want to ask God the same question..."Why?"...nothing more...it seems that question would require the most comprehensive answer possible and thus provide me with the most information.

I would ask, "Is that picture of Brittney Spears' hoo haa real, or is it a fake?"
Okay, really. I would ask, "What question should I ask of you?" I think knowing the perfect question would give me more knowledge than any other answer God could give me. Seriously.
My belief is that there is no question that can be presented to God. First, because he's already provided answers. Second, because in God every answer is correct. Question and answer assumes a system of human logic, in which there is one answer to a question. God has already provided an infinite amount of answers to an infinite amount of questions. Ouch, my head hurts.

I was actually asked this question during church service today (or a question very similar to it). I could not think of a good response at the time. After several hours to ponder the question I think I would have to ask God what is my purpose in life? I would want to know what his will in my life is so that I can better execute his desire over my actions.

Well as a man who is only too human I would ask God "why I wasn't I more perfect than I am now?
I did not ask the obvious question "How can I live with you forever?" since I am already born again.

Will it all turn out Okay?
It would just be nice to have that absolute reassurance.
I wouldn't want to ask for a cure for cancer or something because I don't have the ability to anticipate the ultimate effect of such a thing. There are many blessings disguised as plagues. I leave it to a power far greater than myself to deal with such things as it will.

Rather than asking I will thank Him for bringing me into this world, as bad as it is, that I'm still thankful that I had the chance to live...

What happens after death? would be my question. I'm agnostic, so I don't know who/what I would ask it too, but out of all questions I would want to know it the most.
