I'm writing an essay on islamic archietecture and i feel really stupid always saying the star and moon symbol...so does anyone know the pc name for it???

It's a crescent moon in honor of the pagan moon worshipping religions of ancient Arabia from which Islam was founded

The crescent moon and star is an internationally-recognized symbol of the faith of Islam. The symbol is featured on the flags of several Muslim countries, and is even part of the official emblem for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. That's all I know.

Actually, it is called the hilal in Arabic or crescent moon in English. However, this is not official the symbol for Islam, it only came to be associated with Islam over time.

The crescent in it's self has nothing to do with Islamic religion, I mean that a mosque is still a mosque even without a crescent on the top of it's minaret, it's just an architectural feature used hundreds of years after prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

The crescent and star IS NOT the symbol of islam.Its just the pakistani flag! People invented this thing some years ago.
Islam has no "symbol" as such.
Prophet Muhammad used a white flag, though. (which probably signifies peace)

If the Crecsent(Hilal) isn't the Islam's symbol,Why then it's erected on every Mosque??Who do they think we are to say something else.we aren't aliens
