When I was little, I learned that God can do anything that there's nothing he can't do.

I've heard of stories of physically handicapped people being cured by a miracle (such as a paralyzed man could walk or move his body again). So why wouldn't God cure those with severe mental disability (that can't take care of themselves)?

I'm looking for serious anwers. So I don't want to see any rude answers. If you tend to give me any answer that's rude or a joke, please leave. If any of you are Christians, please help me out and answer my questions.

A dear friend of mine has a son who the Doctors said was borderline Autistic. He wouldn't look at anyone and had horrible physical problems. For example, I watched one time (when he was 8 years old) while he tried to put a foot up on the first step of a ladder. He tried to do it 3 - 5 times before he succeeded.

Through the power of God--and "natural" things that the Lord has led my friend to, her son is now making almost straight A's in school, is playing basketball, looks at people when talking to them...and smiles! :-)

Sometimes we look for healing to happen in an instant. However, God heals in many ways. We should not dismiss any of them because He is the one who is in control--and knows what is best for *everyone* involved.

Do you think or are you sure that He is the cause of everything? You might be an atheist because you thought so, that if there is God then why all the sufferings.Better not believe in Him then. That is because many religions teach the wrong teachings about God. They used to tell to people that if there are bad things that happen, they would simply tell that "IT IS GOD'S WILL". Which is very WRONG if you read the Bible. The Bible is written by men but is not from their own understanding? How? Look, this scrolls were found in desert and caves etc. in different places but archeologist were wondering why this books come up with one motive and objective. And mostly it's accuracy. See this book would show us the real reason why things are happening. Sadly many religious leaders come up with such teachings basing it to their own thoughts. Take this as an example: When under trial or something bad happened on us or the people we loved, they would say that it is God's Will. That is His purpose for us to become stronger. But you know what that is not true at ALL!, they did not based it from the Bible! It says in Psalms 5:4, that God is not taking delight in wickedness. and there are more. Your questions: -On the first part: Remember that He has an enemy who blinded people from the Truth: Satan. He's the reason for everything. I just can't share you everything in here. But i could someday with proofs. -And why did he create mentally challenged people that will never have the ability no learn anything, that's dreadfully sad.- Do you think he is the reason? It is our imperfection that caused that not Him. All of your questions can be answered in the Bible, It could change you impression on what you learned before. Or you might be surprised that the teachings you've heard about many religions are not true. I'll show you from the Bible. They should based it from the Bible in the first place but they did not. We're willing to help you not to blame God. For there is NO REASON He should be blamed when it's not Him after all.

That is a very good question. Remember this: God cures, God restores and God forgives as long as you ask Him to. There is a second part to this statement, though: You need to have faith and trust. Faith and trust are the things that will grant you what you ask God.

The reason, in my opinion, that people these days are not getting their prayers answered as portrayed in the Bible are as followed: Times have changed and people are growing more and more skeptical. The technology from today confirms everything, with the help of science. Youtube, the television, the media - any forms of communication. This is just a reason for people to say that there is no God, that there will be no cure for STDs, and that everything needs to have logic and reason, otherwise, it is silly. Let me tell you this, though: Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever. Never forget that. People today are getting cured of STDs - scientifically speaking, an impossibility - and this is proof that faith is rare, but that it works. A thing such as Down's Syndrome is a large mountain compared to other things, but it can be moved as long as you have faith and trust.

Another thing, though: God knows what is best for us. I'm not saying that it is best for mentally disabled people to stay like that; I'm only saying that God has the wisdom that no human can have. He knows things we do not know. In the case of a mentally challenged person, look at it this way: People are judged according to what they do. Mentally disabled people are not because they do not know any better. Hypothetically speaking, if they are to be cured, then there would be a chance for them to slip out of the path that God wants for them. Afterall, we have free will, and if they are to be given "normal" minds, then they are given free will as well. That means that they will possibly become atheists if they are cured, and God does not want that. God uses bad occurences for good purposes too, you know. Have you seen "Simon Birch"?

Hello. Yes this is a serious question and I intend to answer it seriously. It seems like the question you ask is about someone close to you? I have counseled several children with developmental and severly handicapped disabilities. (And I personally have experience with someone very close to me and my heart.)
Yes, God can do anything. And yes there is nothing he cannot do...
The answer: God works in mysterious ways. Count your blessings and the pleasure this person brings to you. I soley believe that some people are meant to come into this world only to make us better people. I have found a purpose in my life with children with special needs and feel grateful that I was given that experience.
I am sorry. I have no answer, except cherish every moment and breath and happiness of life. God has a reason and plan for everything whether you believe it or not.
Sister Tereasa once said something like, ' God doesn't give us more than we can handle ... I just wish he didn't have so much faith in me."
Have faith and be strong. This person believes in you.

I am a Christian. A Pentecostal Christian. I have heard of our great grandmothers and fathers and what all they experienced during the healing revival that swept America during their time. I have heard testimonies even recently of a baby that had no eyes when it was born and the mom prayed and came back to the crib and little eyes started forming until the baby had normal sized eyeballs. America is Spiritually dead. We have tried to kill God and take Him out of our country so He has taken His miracles to countries that hungry for Him. In Africa especially and Mexico. He is healing people by miracles all the time. Even here and now in America the dead is being raised. I know of people who have raised the dead. Try reading about Smith Wigglesworth sometime or Andrew Womac. It's all real and it's out there. We just don't get to see it a whole lot. Even Jesus said in His own home town He could not do many miracles because of the unbelief. America has been known as a Christian nation so long that we have become like God's hometown and have grown cold to His move and power. Kinda like "familiarity breeds contempt" If I were you I would find a "Church of God" or an Assemblies of God or a Church of God of Prophecy and ask around and you will hear testimonies of what God has done and will do. Who know you may even get caught in a miracle yourself.

I believe in God and the power that he posses, 5 years ago I was in a terrible car accident, I had major nerve damage to my right leg and was told by numerous doctor's that I would never walk again, they were so convinced of this that they wouldn't even sign the paper work needed so that I could go to physical therapy because they said it would not only be a wast of my time, and the therapists but a wast of money. I finally found a doctor willing to sign the forms needed, but he was as sceptically as the others. My father who holds the priest hood in the Mormon church, flew all the way down here, to my home and he and 2 missionaries laid there hands on my head and blessed, me and told me I would walk again. It was not easy after 6 months of physical therapy I still had no feeling and no movement in my leg. My grandfather was on his death bed, so I went to tell him my goodbyes, he was hanging on, he wanted to know that I would be OK, I told him to go be with God and God would heal me. That same afternoon my grandfather passed way. That night as I was getting ready for bed, I was stretching out my legs, and I felt the tiniest movement in my foot. It was so wonderful for me, I know it was not much but it was more then I was told would ever happen. 6 months later I was walking and healed! I do believe in God's miracles and I believe in the power of prayer!!! If it is Gods will then it will be done. I know this to be true!! I do not know if God had ever cured a mentaly challenged person, but I know he has the power to!

Katherine Kuhlman said that the cure of those without actually having physical problems was a greater cure than those whose handicaps could be verified. She met many people who thought they had certain conditions, didn't, but were marvelously cured by God. To the degree that they knew they were cured. She saw people get out of wheelchairs and walk. I even saw a woman get off a gurney at her meeting in Oakland, and stand on stage in front of thousands of people in her pj's. She had a spinal cord injury and hadn't walked in years; and yet Kuhlman deemed the curing of the mind even greater than the body.

"Is anything too hard for the Lord?" Why God chooses to heal some and not others? Kuhlman in later life was found out to cry out to God for answers herself. She would ask Him why this one was healed in her presence and not that one that had such great needs. We don't know, so we contend for life and health.

Stacy, I have been in both situations in my life and I am a living witness of God to His power to heal the cripple and heal mental disorder. When I was born I had crooked ankles up until the age of 3 and I cold not walk but crawled everywhere. My parents took me to a child orthopedic doctor and he fitted my ankles with the excruciating braces to straighten them. They were so painful I kept taking them off. However, I had grandparents who were saved and they came and prayed over my ankles and they straightened out. Also, when I came back from the Gulf War in 1990 I suffered from mental illness. But I think I came in contact with some kind of nerve agent. But I was not myself for about 2 years. I knew something was wrong with me, but I could not find my way back to having a sound mind. My mental illness did not go away until I started going back to church. When I went back I was instantly healed. So, God does heal, but He has a season, place, and time. Sometimes the season for healing can take years, but God already has a appointed time for those who "seek" him. Okay, take care.

We are all born with crosses to bear. Yes God can cure.God can do anything.
There is a reason for these things happening. God has his reasons and some of it is pure Mother nature. In the end the Last shall be the first and the first shall be the last.
The very unfortunate made do more good in life than we do.

OK well i believe that God could cure a mentality challenged person. However most of them have no concept that they a challenged. Most of them love who they are even if they are different. They have an entirely different perspective on the world. However if God chose to cure someone like that and make them "normal" then I am sure God would.
