I like Berkley Fireline in "smoke", Stren SuperBraid in "green" & PowerPro in "green".
Any of these lines work excellent for casting Northerns, Walleye, Bass, Etc.
You can also add a leader of flurocarbon (Berkely "Vanish") if you need a bit of "stretch" or "lo-viz" quality.
Good luck!

I use two different braided lines.....Power Pro or Gorilla Tough. Just look at the pound test and make sure your reel can handle this braid. It is tough and sometimes it's a good thing......like ripping rip through lily pads and pulling up even small stumps.......but once it gets really caught up........you just have to cut it. I have used it all the time for any fish, including snappers. I love it!

Braid allows you to feel every movement so if you want a great casting line and easy bite detection you need braid it also alot thinner than monofilament i like berkley lines and spider wire have a look at these also i must warn you it does cost a little bit more and needs different knots

Some peoplealso fish with a leader of monofilament to actually reduce ware on the braid and to improve casting however thats optional

I have not seen the usefulness of these lines, you need a leader if you get caught on the bottom, or you will be tearing your hand off to break free or you need to cut the line at the surface of the water.... maybe I am old school ....a good monofilament with some south bend invisa leaders (any wal mart) does the trick for northerns.........just a little bit of aquarium tubing on the little r- bend of a spinner bait to keep the snap from going all over the spinner bait.....

I think for large toothy critters like Pike or Musky you will find titanium leaders the best for you fishing application.
Braided Sevenstrand titanium wire with ball bearing swivels for Pike or Musky. Or Terminator Titanium Leaders with 15 strands.
Similar to these available at Gander Mountain stores:
http://www.optitackle.com/leaders.shtml
and these from Cabela's:
