Do not go out with her! There is no way your friend will ever understand you dating his girlfriend even if - especially if - they are having problems! Your friend needs you to be there for him right now. By going out with his girlfriend, you'd be "kicking him while he's down". Not only will he feel like he's losing his girlfriend, but also his friend. Put yourself in his shoes...would you like it if he dated your girlfriend...even if she was a soon-to-be ex?

AFTER they have broken up, and once the heartbreak has healed, if you still want to date his ex, talk to him about it. Friends are hard to find, so don't throw it away for a relationship that may just be a rebound for her.

Think about how you would feel if your friend did that to you. Of course you should not go out with her. Wait until everything has cooled down before you do anything like that.

mate as I have lived through this situation- dont do it

trust me girls come and go mates should be for ever.

if she is truely "the one" for you she will understand you dont wont to hurt your mate and ive you some time and space for him to heal and get over her. Once this has happened feel free to talk to him and let him know how you feel and ASK if it is ok with him if you start seeing this girl.

that way you can keep you mate and get the girl...

I wouldn't even touch that one. It's not only like dating a friend's ex - they've been having troubles. Tell her you're not interested and stay away.

Tell her you would never risk your friendship over a girl so you can't go out with her. Tell her her own reputation will suffer if she goes out with her ex's friend.

Learn this lesson early - you don't sh!t where you eat!!
