If God's 6th commandment is,
Thou Shalt not murder
Why do you all support companies that kill animals for you to eat? If God gave you all the fruits and veggies in the Garden of Eden, why do you still choose to eat meat?

All you pet owners! Would you eat your pet? I can't belive how many of you would eat your own pet! I mean please! You all think that humans are above all animals! But that my friends is not true at all! I am so sickened with all these rude remarks!

Well, if all Christians followed the same commandment, there would be no war in Iraq, would there.

Get over it. Humans are at the top of the food chain. It's the law of the jungle, it's the way the cookie crumbles.

And no god ever gave me anything. I work, get paid and buy groceries. There isn't a daily box of vegetable, fruits or anything else on my doorstep every day.

God Himself is quoted speaking to Moses what is written in Leviticus chapter 11. God included certain animals in our diet to keep the modern human healthy and disease free. This actually started with Adam and Eve after being kicked out of the Garden of Eden , down through Noah's time and finally rewritten and taught to Moses by God Himself. No matter what any human says about this being cruel to animals they are wrong in the sense that God looks at it as a necessity for human survival on Earth and live a longer healthier life. I'll believe God on this matter over any humans opinion.

They will probably answer that God also gave the all the animals of the world as well, so it is their right.

A less religious person would probably answer that animals are killed all the time in the wild, so that is the natural order of things.

Regardless of your belief system, everyone can think of a reason to choose to eat meat. It's the reasons to not eat meat that really matter.

Dear Friend,

God has allowed certain animals for food for us.

Please read Deuteronomy 14:4:21 and it says, "These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat, The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the wild goad, and teh pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois. And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat. Nevertheless these shall NOT eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel and the hare, and the coney; for they chew the cud, BUT divide NOT the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you. And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase. These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters; all that have fins AND scales shall ye eat. And whatsoever hath not fins AND scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you. Of all clean birds ye shall eat. but these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the osprey, and the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind, and every raven after his kind, and the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckoo, and the hawk after his kind, the little owl, and the great owl, and the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant, and the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten. But of all clean fowls ye may eat. Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself; though shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unot an alien: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

Now, lets talk about where God says, "Thou Shalt Not Kill." Exodus 20:13; Deut. 5:17; Matt. 5:21 and Romans 13:9. In order to understand what is being said here, the Hebrew and Greek translations of the words must be determined.

So then, what is God saying when He says, "Thou shalt not kill?" God is talking about spilling innocent blood. He is not talking about killing for the purpose of food.

And if we really want to get to the root of all this, every "living" thing has feelings. Yes, even when you pull a carrot from its roots. Tomatoes, etc. Should we just starve because we are hurting living organisms?

God created us in such a way that "food" is necessary for our survival. Thank you Jesus for the wonderful taste buds you gave us, and the wonderful abundant surplus and varieties of foods to nourish our bodies. Amen.

And finally, yes... God gave us fruits and vegetables in the Garden of Eden... but that all changed when mankind sinned (rebelled) against God in disobedience. There were, and still are...consequences for disobedience, and Adam and Eve (our ancestors) were banned from the Garden.

But, because of the love God has for His creation, He knew that this rebellion BROKE the fellowship that He had with Adam and Eve...and therefore, in order to restore the fellowship and have a personal relationship with us once again, God sent His only begotten Son...Jesus Christ to be the "living" sacrifice for us, and pay a debt we could not pay.

So, when we ask Jesus INTO our lives, He comes in and directs us on the "right" path for our lives. Jesus Christ is real and alive and desires a wonderful..."personal" relationship with you too. It's our choice. To either accept Him, or reject Him. God will NEVER force Himself on you. He waits for you to INVITE Him in.

Sincerely in His service,

My poor house is full of animals, (3 coonhounds, 1 cairn terrier, 3 cats)

I won't say other people shouldn't eat meat (after all, animals eat each other) but I don't. And I'm Christian.

And, excuse me, but animals do have a soul--it is not in the image of God, and it is not as developed as man's, but all the animals on the earth are creations of God, he put them here b/c it pleased him, and he loves them, and he gave people dominion over them to protect them, not to selfishly harvest and exploit them. Heaven will be filled with animals, just as it is with the souls of people.

Murder refers only to creatures that have an eternal soul, and that means human beings. Animals have no spirit. They are not eternal. God created them for food, as you see in the animal food chain. The lion may kill a hyena for food; the hyena may kill a rabbit for food. They are not murdering other animals- they have no law. It is not murder to kill an animal. some people only think it is because they're cute and furry. But they cannot reason, they cannot think. They have very limited brain functions, they cannot communicate like we can. They are only living creatures, given for man's benefit for work, for pleasure and for food.

In fact, God commanded man to kill animals in the Old Testament for sacrifices, yet He was absolutely appalled at people who killed their newborn babies to sacrifice them to the god Molech. Obviously, God knew the difference between killing a human and killing an animal.

Because people who eat meat do not actually kill the animals for meat, themselves, therefore they do not view it as "commiting murder". I personally support your view, and although I am not a super strict vegetarian anymore [I fell off the wagon when I was pregnant!!! lol], I am very concerned about the well-being and the humane treatment od ALL living things, most importantly animals which are raised for human consumption ....

It completely breaks my heart to think about how poorly farm animals are treated ..... : ( : ( : (
I wish more people cared, too ...
Thanks for making people more aware of this horrible problem. : )

It also said that man had dominion over all the beasts, foul, and creatures in the sea, to do with what we see fit. Also, do you condemn the lion for eating the buffalo, or the shark for eating the other fish in the sea. It's natural for man to eat meat, we had meat to eat long before we got the idea to plant crops.

Thou shalt not murder refers to another human being.

When you come to a conclusion it must be carefully examined in light of what the entire scripture says.

Genesis 1:29-30 "And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. 30 Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so."

The definition of murder does not extend to animals by Biblical or modern standards. Read a book before you criticize it.
