OMG! No! That stuff is far to harsh for your cats skin. Don't even fool with over the counter meds. None of them work well. Go to your vets and for just a couple dollars more get what he recommendes.
It's brand name escapes me right now but it comes in little tubes. You open the tube by pushing the cap into the top of the tube and then you put the entire contents between your cats shoulder blades and rub it in. If you tell your vet all this he'll know exactly what you're asking about. I highly recommend it.

They might be saying it but it isn't true.

People often use Borax in their HOUSE to get rid of fleas, but it doesn't really work. And it must NEVER be applied to an animal - it's not even supposed to be used around animals, never mind on them.

If you have cats or dog with fleas, go to a vets to get some proper treatment for them, and a proper spray for your house.

No flea treatment from a store will work because stores aren't licensed to sell the chemicals that are appropriate for flea treatment.

Ahh fleas. Check out the pet departments for a lighted flea catcher. It's a little tray like contraption with a small nightlight sort of arrangement over a sticky pad. The fleas are attracted to the light and get stuck to the pad. Like safe for the cat, No poisons. Follow the directions on where to put it.... Ours goes in the basement near the cats food. My son has his in his bedroom cause the cats go there for pets and brushings.

Borax is what they say to put in your carpet to get rid of fleas....not your cat.
