I've noticed that some places are selling the large Motrin 300 caplet bottles. It seems to me that they are trying to promote buying this large amount of pills, which seems to be unsafe and may help people commit suicide...My questions are..

Can someone actually commit suicide from all these pills?

Why would they want to promote selling this large quantity?

I personally believe they should not sell these large bottles because it seems like too much of quantity.

I don't know why they want to sell this large amount...but I think they should reduce it.

Suicide does not occur because of the quantity of pills sold. There are many ways to commit suicide. The best way to deal with such is to address why suicide is attempted or desired.

There are three reasons as follows:

One is a loss of hope. Two is a fervent belief that others will benefit from his own death. Three is following orders from one in authority.

The only one we can deal with is the loss of hope. The other two are out of bounds by reason. People need hope. Without it, what have they?

It doesn't matter how many pills they put in a bottle, if one bottle does not have enough pills for a person who is determined to commit suicide they will just buy more bottles. It's not the amount in the bottle anyway, it's the kind of pills they take to end their life which when you think about it, that is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. There is hope and help out there for depression. All you have to do is go get the help. I know all about depression. I was diagnosed with severe depression many years ago and have been seeing doctors for it for many years. I have tried all the antidepressants and they did not help. Finally I found a doctor who diagnosed me with PTSD and we do talk therapy, no pills. I have improved tremendously. It took me a lot of years to find the right doctor and people may not find the right one until they have seen several doctors but they need to keep switching doctors until they feel like they are getting the help they need. Don't worry about hurting the doctor's feelings, just keep searching until you get a doctor who helps you. So don't worry about the number of pills in the bottle, worry about the number of bottles they buy and are they all the same or are there several different kinds.

I think suicide by Motrin- is unlikely. Suicide by taking pills they really don't NEED- more probable. And suicide by not reading the Label & following Instructions- well that's the way a LOT of people, "GO". So whether it's a bottle of 3 or 300, not knowing WHAT you're doing to your body when you take pills of ANY amount- well, THAT's "Suicide..." :(

They probably sell large bottles because it saves people money. You are right that it is not good because it is such a large amount. A child could get into it and get poisoned. I do not think it will help people with suicide because motrin is not a medication that can be used for that.

If someone wanted to kill themself bad enough they could find some pills to do it. They wouldn't have to buy a super-sized bottle at Wal-Mart. There are much more potent pills that would do the job quicker and with less pills. Taking a bunch of aspirin or ibuprofen would probably just make you really sick and throw up.

some people need a bigger dosage to relieve the pain. When it comes to suicide, if someone wants to do it, they could take any amount of any pills, therefore what you're saying does not make sense. The dosage you're talking about does not promote suicide, but pain relief for people who suffer sometimes a daily chronic pain.

Any extensive amount WILL kill you.

They are not promoting suicide in any way, thats like saying bulk food stores are promoting over-eating.

Its just cheaper to buy in bulk.

It can not cause suicide, believe me, I've tried, and it did not work at all. I even felt a little stronger, and may have got super-powers. (I can fly)
