Without knowing anything about you, it would be hard to know who to suggest.

Find a saint that touches your heart or one that you feel you can use an example to live a Christian life.

There are thousands of Catholic Saints. Here are a few helpful websites:

I'm so very sorry to read that someone is going to RCIA and they received an answer "Pick a Saint, or a name you like, or nothing at all" The purpose is to have a patron saint, Period.

You MUST pick one. It is not an option, if you can't the Archbishop during the Confirmation will chose one for you on the spot whether you like it or not.

The best way to look at Saints is simliarity in lifestyle (nurse, teacher, mother, etc) or look at a Saint in what you wish to attain in a sense of holiness.

I chose Teresa the Little Flower because of her simplicity to creating a life of sainthood was appealing to me. Now, St. Teresa is my patron saint and any little problem I have I approach her to pray with me and she works tirelessly on my behalf to get it answered (if its 'good' for me!)

Welcome Home and God bless!

LOL. I am going through RCIA now too. I asked that question on the first day cuz there was a spot for it on our forms that we filled out.

They told us that a lot of people will pick a Saint that they identify with... or sometimes just a name that they like... and others pick nothing at all.

So I still don't know what I will do, but I think I have some time left....

Good luck in whatever you decide.

You should formally take a name only if you wish to, and that name should ideally be the name of a saint you particularly admire or with whom you strongly identify.

I took Therese as my Confirmation name, because I admire her "little way." St. Therese of Lisieux knew she could not be "perfect" in following God, so she set out to do what little things she could for Him and trust in Him to help her the rest of the way. She followed God's word in the ordinary and everyday things she did, rather than seeking out the flamboyant and extraordinary. Her example is one that I found very inspirational, so I took her name when I was Confirmed. Formally, however, I retained my given name and the middle name my parents gave me. Therese is my patroness, but I did not feel that I needed to renounce the names I was given in order to honor her.

A few of my personal favorite saints

Saint Bernadette of Lourdes
Saint Faustina
Saint Philomena
Elisabeth Leseur (in the process of becoming a saint)
Mother Teresa
Saint Monica (mother of St. Augustine)

Look some of them up and see what their stories are. You might really like one their stories. If you do, maybe pick one of their names.

Or...you could pick Mary, Maria, Marian, Marie or some derivative of it.

God Bless you on your journey to the fullness of His love for us!

I can't answer that really. You should read about saints online and choose one that suites you. :)

At confirmation I chose, St. Clare because she was the patron of Television. That's a 14 year old for you. :P

I kept the one that my parents gave me, but that was just me.

When I went through RCIA, we were told that should we WANT to choose a name, that was entirely up to us, but it wasn't required.
