My husband thinks it's okay to throw plastic wrap or little pieces of paper or even razors in the toilet and flush them. I've tried to tell him that it is not, but he doesn't believe me. He thinks because we're on a public sewer that it won't matter. Is there anywhere that I can find written information on how this is not okay?

It is very bad for your drains and most importantly for the enviroment. A lot of what go down the sewage pipes ends up in oceans and streams. Call your local water supply company.... they give you all the info you could ever want!

This isn't a good habit. Since toilets run cold water any fats or grreases would have a tendency to cling to the toilet and pipes. After a while you get a buildup ahd a stopped up toilet. This is really a bad idea if you have a septic tank, because the bacteria in the tank may reject it, causing the entire bacteria cycle into a frenzy.Every time you flush a cigarette butt, facial tissue or other small bit of trash down the toilet, you waste five to seven gallons of water.Dispose of tissues, insects and other such waste in the trash rather than the toilet. What else can you do to prevent sewer blockages?
Avoid drain pain - don't flush these things

Dental floss
Disposable diapers
Egg shells, nutshells, and coffee grounds
Fats, oils, and greases
Food items containing seeds and peelings
Hair
Paper towels or rags
Sanitary napkins, tampons, condoms, or any non-organic material
Vitamins, medicines or other pharmaceuticals
Never dispose of medications by flushing them down the drain or toilet.\

contained in the united states and many the first international international places, the lavatory paper receives FLUSHED ! it really is no longer purely unsanitary yet extraordinarily disgusting to placed lavatory paper right into a trash field basically sitting there. terrible ! yet when you're in COSTA RICA, even the most well known places have tremendous cans and ask you to easily attempt this - throw the paper contained in the can and not in any respect contained in the lavatory. some exceptions are fantastic, which includes contained in the dentist's places of paintings and doctor's places of paintings that cater to American sufferers and resorts that do also. In Honduras and Nicaragua, many lavatories are flushed with a bucket of water and it doesn't count number. It relies upon on how primitive the plumbing device is what they prefer you to do with the lavatory paper.

No, you shouldn't do that. It clogs up the sewer treatment plant and has to be dealt with there. He should be made to fish those things out of the poop for day or two. He might have a better attitude after that. I hope he stops up your toilet and has to call an expensive plumber to fix it.

Hey, though there is treatment plant for sewage water, you cant discharge garbage in sewage.Discharging garbage cause problem in efficiency of treatment plant by inhibiting biological processes in plant. In almost all places, discharging garbage down the toilet is illegal. Of course, you can find written information. just go to ur local authority and ask about the information. See the functions of any sewage treatment plants.

In most places it is illegal. It's hard to enforce, but it is illegal. It's a hazard to workers. It's hard to treat in the treatment facility. It can cause problems for others downstream. The fact that it is illegal should be enough.

Then again, maybe you live someplace else where it isn't illegal. Check out local laws. Eyebrows will be raised, and he'll have to stop.

he is wrong
sewage water goes into filtering processes in to tanks and then into nature or other water that gets purified ,

or in simpler systems straight back in to nature
tell him it is irresponsible
anti social and anti environmental
and he wont go to heaven if he keeps it up.

apart from that it can block your own system and it cost money to get people to work in your excrement to fix it
so it is also unwise ,and can work out to be un economic
