The absolute BEST thing to do is to confront them... Not around anyone if you can help it... Be nice/courtious but, let them know that you mean what you say.... Just the "shock" of being caught in a lie should fix the problem. Then behave as usual... Good luck

Spreading rumors is beyond unprofessional and it is beyond rude - it is slanderous. Let that mentor know she's being unprofessional by slapping her with a lawsuit. Booyah!

If they are being unprofessional, why do you care about being rude?
Even so, more details would help elicit a better answer
is this person someone you work with or someone you are getting services from...will you see this person again, does your (service, money etc) depend upon this person (ie nurse doctor, lawyer etc)

say excuse me but it think it should be done this way i have seen it done before and i think u are not doing it right but say that they are still the profesinal but not everyone is perfect
