I teach two "web-based" classes (university level, entirely online). When Yahoo! took its little breather, I logged in to the electronic classroom and started reading the students' answers to recent discussion questions. About halfway through one particular one (related to ethics), I found myself searching for the "thumbs up" (and "thumbs down") button...it became increasingly difficult to keep reading without wanting to express my opinion visually.

What does this mean...should I ask the Blackboard folks to add a thumbs up/down routine to WebCT?...or would that be too harsh for a college classroom?

Or am I addicted to this place...is it time for Y!A-A? If so, does anyone know of a group I could join (online of course...or would that defeat the purpose???)...

I think the thumbs up and down could assist in sparking more discussion. Also it's university level, they should be used to defending their positions and dealing with dissenting opinion. That being said, I'm only a level one on this site, just stumbled on here last week, so I don't get to vote yet.

All virtual classes should the option to raise question with detail explanation or answer related to it or record the questions the students have and provide answer to them to make it effective. Thumbs up and down could be pretty helpful.

I think it adds to the opinion of readers, but then again, it depends on the readers as to whether or not the "thumbs up/ thumbs down" can be seen as appropriate judgments.

Youtube.com has recently added it, I believe, and I think that it's a great idea as long as voters can also comment on the answer (Frankly, it doesn't do it for me when people on YA "thumb up/thumb down"; they need an elaboration as to why that is).

I used to have this workplace that replaced into up a steel stairway. We continually knew while somebody replaced into coming through fact it replaced into so loud. only approximately daily, somebody would come working up the stairs and fall. i'd continually run to the stairs and ask in the event that they have been ok. each and every time, the guy would deny they had fallen. For some reason or different, this replaced into an increasing style of humorous to those in my workplace. the guy replaced into positively embarrassed. they'd have been lacking a limb and nonetheless declare they hadn't fallen. there is just one thing inherently humorous approximately somebody falling. i do no longer comprehend why. possibly through fact it replaced into quiet in my workplace after which growth, and %^&&*^%$$% (cursing), then they'd say, they did no longer fall.
