Because sometimes i'm really skeptical. Like right now i'm dealing with problems of loneliness, being broke, problems with my family, etc. Is God making me go through all this b.s. "for a reason" or do you guys think that things just happen for no reason at all? I'm curious to hear what others think

I failed my math test.
Reason: I didn't study for it.

I got fired.
Reason: I was surfing pron.

Yeah! I guess I believe in things happening for a reason. Reasons that you do or make. Nothing to do with God. God is not going to give you a porche because you pray really really hard for it. You got work hard to get what you pray for.
"Life is what you make of it."

Lonely, go out hang out with friends, or find some new friends. Join a club, gym, play sports. Play with your kids. No point sitting in front of the PC all day/night asking questions, get out there and do things. Make real friends! Gandhi said "Anything you do doesn't matter, but it is important that you do them."

Broke, learn some financial management, they have courses in community colleges. You can cut down on a few luxury items to save for the really important things. Observe how the bean counters in your office do things (office policies), you can learn a lot from them (to cut cost).

You sound like you are experiencing some spiritual emptiness void. For a start, instead of watching sports, set aside one hour or so a week go to Church, Synagogue, Mosque, Temple wherever to get some spiritual guidance. Some nice people there you can talk to, and maybe you make new friends. They also can help in marriage realtionships. Not only providing counselours services, but also setting aside time to spend with family.

For what its worth, you are not alone out there. Everybody has similar problems, they all deal with it differently. you have to find a way which suits your life style and personality to deal with your issues.

Take care.

I think it is easy for some people to believe that everything happens for a reason. It makes it easy for them to justify when bad things occur. I even believed it for a little while, but then I began to believe that we have to understand that some things just happen...period. There is no reason for some of the awful things that happen, no lesson to learn or punishment for the wicked. There is just a randomness. The good don't always win and get rewarded and the bad certainly don't always get punished-although this would be great.

I do believe that I have become stronger through some of the traumatic events that I've had to deal with. I can't explain why a really bad guy wins the lottery or a really nice lady's house burns down. What reason could there be for that? I believe we get stronger though and we learn, I just don't think the problems happen "for a reason".

watch the movie Signs. I agree with that movie. Everything happens for a reason. In the movie, a man's wife dies, and several other things happen, and none of it is in vain.
God will never give us anything we can not handle. and everything gives us an oppertuinity to grow, and learn, sometimes bad stuff happens and it's just so god, AND YOU, can see and learn how you will react to something so god can teach you something about yourself.
There is an old saying I like.
If everyone was forced to put all their problems in the whole world in a big pile, and take an equal share, most people would be content to just pick up their own problems from the pile, and walk away. Count your blessings, You will see god has blessed you more than you think.
good luck

Not sure why you put a religion topic under mental health, but I will go with it..... except I don't know.... I wish I had an answer. I am going though mental health issues, my meds are not right, and my body is severely hurting, and I have issues with my family, and my grandma is pretty sick....

I don't know if God has a plan, I think so times He does, and then there are times I wonder "is there a God, and if there is a God why does this stuff happen to me"

As for an answer to your question it is going to have to come from with in yourself.... that is all I know... If you have the faith that things happen for a reason, what ever the reason maybe and even if it is unclear to us what that reason is, but we keep the faith... then hopefully it will all work out in the end.

Eh, I wouldn't say anything about "God" doing anything at all mostly because I'm skeptical of that in the first place. However, there seems to be a sort of balance in the world that is undeniable, and chains of events occur based off of the smallest of deeds. So maybe "God" isn't making you go through anything for a reason, but you can genuinely learn something from everything, and with the bad generally comes the good, and that is fairly obvious. Can't have one without the other, you know?

"What doesn't kill us, can only make us stronger." There is a
reason for everything. It sometimes takes years to understand
why something happened the way it did. History is always in
the making. What happened a millisecond ago, is nothing but history. Your entire life can change in a flash. It is useless to
complain. We can only strive to make our future better "grasshopper."

I'm one of those that believe everything happens for a reason. Perhaps God is making you stronger for something. I like to look at it this way..if we never experienced the difficult times in our life, than we could in no way appreciate the good ones. I think sabout the struggles I've been through, and I've learned from all of them.

Things happen to you because of the choices you make. There is no God that creates scenarios for people.
