What makes you believe that actions aren't being taken right now to reduce pollution and conserve energy?
These are multi billion dollar businesses, as this is what the free market is demanding, and this is what Capitalism is providing.

Thank you for giving me a place to vent. Global Warming is not a complete hoax, but don't believe all the hand ringing you see and hear about. Did you see all of this when Bill Clinton was the president? Its true that the Earth is warming up, but in recorded history global temperature runs in cycles. If you are concerned with hurricanes, floods, or tornadoes, they too run in cycles. You hear more about them now, because of new technologies, better TV news coverage, as well as instant access via the internet across the world.
If you want to go out and buy a hybrid, take a bath once a week, and live in cold homes in the winter and hot homes in the summer, be my guest. Your donation to society is appreciated, but of little or no value in the whole scheme of our earthly environment.

It sounds like you've got a pretty good handle on the subject already. First, global warming -- and cooling too -- is a NATURAL phenomenon that our Earth has gone through over and over again. There's more than enough scientific evidence to prove that. The current cycle is natural too, *but* our civilization may well be accelerating and acerbating its effects.
The one fact that you seldom hear about is that in order to have any *significant* affect on current global warming we would have to basically stop most of the various technologies our civilization requires to exist. The question then becomes, "In the long run, is it worth it?"

The two biggest scientific organizations in the world (AAAS and NAS) have both confirmed that YES global warming is real. YES we are the ones causing it. and, YES we can prevent if from getting worse if we act now. Since Exxon is paying millions of dollars to some mislead astrophysicist who can't seem to find anyone who will peer review his claims (I wonder why) to back up their cause. They are paying him to make global warming look like scare mongering tactics and just plain false. After all, who's gonna doubt an astrophysicist right? So buy oil! It's OK. We have enough left to do us 36 years at most. It's OK though it only takes 300,000 years for it to regenerate. So maybe we can cut back and make it last that long? Um.. no. Why believe me though? Do some research like i have. check the CREDIBLE websites like AAAS and NAS's. People who have nothing to gain by lying. Unlike EXXON.

Absolutely! We should do the right things for the right reasons, not because we're scared for our own survival. We're all in this together, right?
I have a slew of sites that can educate far better than I can. They are more accessible than some, and are primarily government or university associated sites, most from the U.S., a few from abroad. You can get a good sense of what's been done, what's being done currently, and what is planned in the near future in dealing with the issue at large.
Not a hoax, not a myth, Chicken Little is not working overtime. So if you're looking for facts to get seriously acquainted with the issue, check out some or all of the sites below. All are, I believe, credible. No wikipedia or YouTube for me, I want the real deal, and I think perhaps you do, too.

It Is Not A Hoax. There are millions of studies that prove that it is a natural disaster: it is going to cause, the oceans flooding from the melting of the icecaps, hurricanes from the water warming, and EXTREME climate change!!!! Man IS contributing a lot-what else would be contributing!?

Right now governments around the world are spending billions of dollars for global warming. That money can be spent more efficiently fighting clean air and clean water. The technology is there to have cleaner coal fired power plants. But by cleaner it means less toxins for the air we breath not less co2.
The notion of educating the public to reduce energy consumption is also not realistic. The way you reduce energy consumption is by increasing its price. That means more taxes. That will hurt the poor who need energy to heat their homes and get to work. Also if you spend a couple of extra hundred dollars a year on a necessity like energy, that is less money people have to spend on other things. So if I spend that money on something else like restaurants, that is food and shelter for the restaurant owner, the people he employs, his suppliers etc.
That is why I do not buy the notion it can not hurt.

No. It is one thing for people to avoid straight out waste, like leaving the lights on all the time or something, but otherwise there is always a cost- be it time, energy, or quality of life. For example, I could avoid driving 40 miles one-way to college each day by living on campus but it would cost more, not allow me to work on my charity project at home, leave our dogs locked up for 9-10 hours a day, and be very hard on my family which is in mourning over the sudden loss of my dad.

Global warming is not a hoax; when are people going to wake up and realize of all the indications scientist have been pointing that it is real.
I believe Global warming is contributed by man; man have destroyed or unbalance the ecology and ecocide the world.

It is a natural warming cycle that will be followed by a natural cooling cycle. It is what the earth does. It doesn't stay at the same temperature.
