say you got mono and you had to perform a madrigal dinner (singing group dinner) in about 3 weeks...would you be able to sing for about 2 hours if your voice was mostly back to normal?

OK you said this performance is in 3 weeks. Your vocal chords are like any other muscle. You need to start working them now, or you will start those 2 hours great and lose it fast. I suggest doing warm up exorcises a couple of times a day and increasing it a little every day..good luck!

Not unless the doctor tells you it's okay. I had it many years ago and it went into secondary infection affecting the spleen and pancreas because I thought I was too important to stay down like the doctor told me to. A 2 hour madrigal dinner is not worth a 4 to 8 week set-back. You also need to be sure that you are no longer contagious - if people are eating while you're spreading germs on them singing.... I would not be a happy customer if I was made aware that one of the singers had mono and knew about it.

Not unless you don't want to perform for the rest of your life. Just rest for a little while...
