No Lye Relaxers are the best. Do they even sell relaxers with lye anymore?

Both suck. BUTTT lye is probably better since it is being applied by a professional. No lye has calcium (instead of sodium) hydroxide (sodium hydroxide is lye) which can cause build up on the hair- that's not good.
I used to use no lye, now i go and get my hair done.

Remember that BOTH are VERRRYYY damaging to the hair and should be done only when you really need it (and don't say you need one at four weeks post!!)

This site will really help you:

EDIT: I was taking a look at the other answers.
They DO still make lye, like i said it has to be professionally applied. And to the last answer: once hair is relaxed it does not go back curly so saying "my hair stays straighter longer" doesn't make sense. The curly hair you get after relaxer is new growth.

My hair works better with a Lye Relaxer. My hair stays straighter longer.

I use Revlon Realistic
Hawaiian Silky
Dr. Miracles
Luster's Pink Relaxer

From what I hear they all got lye. But most of the kits in stores say no lye. Its best to go to the salon if you never had a relaxer before.

Neither one really, both have chemicals that are damaging to hair, but I use a no-lye relaxer.

As far as I know, you can use it. Just be sure to follow the directions word for word.
