going shopping mon or tues
I'm tired of buying the same boring foods
meal suggestions for breakfast lunch and dinner would be great.
also,
What do you usually forget to buy at the grocery store and remember half way home?

What are a few must have spices? I have the "usual" ones... about 12-16 containers.

Okay first thing, youw ant ot include all the basic food groups.
(grain, Fruits, Veg, Dairy, meat/protein, Fats ect)

Lets spice up all of them!

In the grains department i would suggest getting a new cereal and a bread that you have never tried before!

In the fruits i would get a exotic food that you havent tried yet such as maybe starfruit, papya, pomagrant or mangos.

In the veg group i would try a new veg or veg mix such as broccoili and cheese!

For dairy you can never go wrong with a new ice cream flavor id suggest strawberry shortcake =]

Meat/protein..since im vegetarian i dont eat meat so have you ever tried veggie burgers?

In fats get a bit of your favorite candy and cookies =]

Here are some tips:
• Making sure none of your food is opened
•Make sure dates on milk arnt expired
•Check your eggs to make sure none are cracked
•when buying bread make sure it is not opened or soiled

Happy Eating!

A must have spice sage.
Meal idea I make my own wraps using lunch meat and lettuce, less calories and makes me feel like I'm doing something nice for lunch

For dinner an easy chicken and dumpling meal even I can make it you can use any chicken whatever your preference is, I use legs and thighs unless I have company then I also use breasts. Put in your largest pot cover with water boil, I throw in salt and pepper and a little onion powder, boil until chicken is done normally about one hour. Turn off heat, using tongs remove chicken from water. Save water do not remove from stove. let chicken cool about 15 minutes. While chicken is cooling dump 3 cans of chicken broth (any brand is ok) into the chicken broth on the stove, then dump in carrot chunks or baby carrots(carrots can be optional) turn the heat on medium under the broth and carrots , remove from chicken from the bone. CAREFULLY, dump chicken back in broth turn up heat to bring to a boil. Follow the directions on the side of the Bisquick box to make great easy dumplings. TIP: cover the dumplings as the reciepe states and leave covered for 10 minutes just like it says, the dumplings will come out perfect if you do this.
All I serve with this is a green salad and rolls. the second meal is the best. The next day I make noodles and use my left overs on them, it is hot and hearty.
what do I forget, I have forgotten lightbulbs 4 times in a row, I am so mad at myself.

Shop on the outside aisles of the supermarket.
Avoid all the processed & packaged goods.
Buy cheaper cuts of meat in large quantities, tastier.
Get lots of vegetables, fruits, & nuts, try new things.
Have fish a few times each week, if only canned tuna.
You need basil & oregano with tomato sauce for Italian.
Soya sauce for Chinese stir-fry, Curry sauce for Indian.
Chili powder for Mexican, with many types of peppers.
You also need onions, garlic, & ginger, for several types.
Eggs can be used many different ways for breakfast.
Try chicken or turkey bacon to reduce fat content.
Ground chicken or turkey instead of ground round.
Whole-wheat Pasta, brown, wild, or basmati rice,
from the bulk-food section.

We're not much of breakfast eaters around here, so can't help you there. Some lunch/dinner ideas for you are...
Chicken fajitas (our favorite)-Cube chicken and cook on stovetop with fajita season packet, we cook sliced onions & gr. peppers with ours too, and also spanish rice. top with sr. cream & cheese!

Baked Spagheti w/ salad & bread
Roast w/ carrots & potatoes (toss all in crockpot!)
California salad (like O'Charley's) Spring mix lettuce, sliced strawberries, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, feta cheese, grilled chicken, and pecans, with any dressing...I like ranch.

Something I always seem to forget to buy is...eggs or bread!

I usually forget the eggs and butter because it is in the last aisle. Don't forget the toilet tissue. The spices I like to keep on hand are garlic powder, Italian seasoning, parsley, thyme, paprika, and bay leaves. At this time of year you may also want to have some all-spice, cinnamon and nutmeg (for pies and egg-nog,) and sage for your turkey and stuffing. I also have rosemary, thyme, chili powder, crushed red pepper flakes and lemon pepper. One other thing I like to have in the house at all times is Parmesan cheese

CHEESY HAM AND EGG PIE

1 pie crust (ready-made)
4 Tbs. butter
3 slices ham
8 green onions
1 C. brie cheese (or other mild cheese)
1 C. parmesan cheese, grated
4 eggs
2 C. heavy cream
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

Preheat oven to 400 F. Cover pie crust with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove foil and bake 5 minutes more. Remove crust and reduce heat to 325 F. Julienne ham. Chop green onions. In skillet, saute ham until brown. Remove and set aside. Saute onion until tender. Remove with slotted spoon and combine with ham. Spread on bottom of pie crust. Spread brie over ham mixture and sprinkle with parmesan. Combine eggs, cream and nutmeg; pour over cheese. Bake 30 minutes or until set. Cool slightly, cut into wedges and serve. Makes 8 servings. Serve with buttered biscuits.

LUNCHTIME TACOS

1 lb. lean ground beef
1 pkg. taco seasoning mix
1 pkg. corn chips
2 c. shredded lettuce
1 chopped fresh tomato
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
1/3 c. salsa
1/2 c. sour cream

Place ground beef in a large skillet. Cook and stir over medium heat until browned. Drain excess oil. Mix in the taco seasoning and prepare according to the directions on the package. With the bag unopened, gently crush the corn chips. Put the crushed chips on plates and then the cheddar cheese, salsa and sour cream into the dish on top of the crushed chips. Top with the beef mixture, lettuce, and tomato. Makes 4 servings.

CAROL’S MUSHROOM MEATBALLS

1-1/2 lbs. ground beef
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2/3 c. grated parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. parsley
1/4 tsp. thyme
pepper to taste
1 Can Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup
1 can sliced mushrooms with liquid
1/3 c. half and half
4 heaping tbsp. sour cream
mashed potatoes or rice

Mix the ground beef, eggs, cheese and seasonings and shape into 1-1/2 inch meatballs. In a large skillet, brown the meatballs slowly on all sides in a little hot oil. Stir frequently. Cook for 15-20 minutes. Drain off excess fat, leaving a little in the pan. Pour the soup into the skillet with the meatballs, adding 1-2 can of water. Stir well. Add the half and half and the sour cream slowly, stirring to blend. Simmer on low heat uncovered for about 20 minutes. Add mushrooms with liquid and cook for 5 minutes. Serve over mashed potatoes or rice with your favorite vegetable, crusty bread and butter, and a fruit gelatin for dessert.
