i really dont think so.....i dont think we have that technology yet.........as for losing their gun....they're trained to prevent that sorta thing, for a cop to lose his gun, would be complete irresponsibility........not to mention, most police gun holsters are built to where you can only draw the gun from an upward position...making it almost impossible for someone to steal it.....now if the gun is already out, then i think anybody would be shot if they came into close proximity close enough to take the gun.......what if the person is close to the cop to begin with?....well...cops are trained to defend themselves with or without weapons....and so if they do not have time to grab one, they will use hand-to-hand combat tactics...

I cannot say that no department has anything like that. I suppose all it would be is some sort of GPS chip. It is actually a good idea. Currently that is the purpose of the serial number on the weapon. If someone attempts to register the weapon, it would be in the NCIC that the gun is reported stolen. However, that opens up the fact that if someone steals the weapon or receives a weapon illegally, they won't be attempting to register it. In that situation a type of GPS would be extremely helpful.
They could call it GUNSTAR or something (Onstar)

No but what a great idea! Lo-jack for firearms! I have not heard of that, but what a great thing to invent. You should contact the company. Patent that idea! This way, if any gun is ever stolen, it can be found (just like cars)...the police could know if someone had a gun in the car because it would "beep". Driving through neighborhoods stolen guns can be found before they are used by badguys to hurt anyone.!

i won't be able to say that no branch has something like that. i assume all it could be is a few variety of GPS chip. it somewhat is actual a sturdy concept. at the instant it somewhat is the purpose of the serial selection on the weapon. If somebody tries to sign in the weapon, it could be interior the NCIC that the gun is declared stolen. besides the undeniable fact that, that opens up the undeniable fact that if somebody steals the weapon or gets a weapon illegally, they gained't be attempting to sign in it. In that challenge a form of GPS would be truly efficient. they'd call it GUNSTAR or some thing (Onstar)

So far no one has tried to implant a chip.
You should contact a Patent attorney and get that idea locked in.
