First time "questioner." My nephrologist has prescribed me 5 mg Percocet (schedule II drug) per day (30 day supply) which I just got filled on 11-2-07. I've been taking it for about a year since I had to retire due to my condition. (I have End Stage Renal Disease and am undergoing dialysis due to only 17% adequacy in my remaining kidney.) I feel I need to go back up to my original higher dosage of 10 mg. - 5 mg is just not strong enough. I see the doctor tomorrow and will ask her to increase the dosage to 10 mg. Should my insurance pay for it before the 30 days are up? Since it's schedule II, the pharmacy is very strict about when it's filled. I'm not sure since it's the same medicine but a higher dosage.

It depends on your insurance. My insurance would cover it since it is a new prescription. Talk to your pharmacist and explain your situation. If you have historically gotten the 10mg, it would be on your record. I would have no problems filling it.
