No, God couldn't have just "skipped the process". He wanted to show Noah who was boss so He made Noah shovel poop for the year at sea. There was lots of magic in getting the animals to the ark and back home again, but the feeding and shoveling was Noah's punishment for his drunkenness. (Might think about that next time you go out partying).
Obviously Noah had his hands full with the animals all trying to eat each other, and the fleas & beetles crawling all over the place. Noah himself probably wished he'd been drowned by the time it was all done.
And then there was the problem with the ice machine breaking down and the polar bears & penguins overheating. It was one rough voyage, let me tell you.

Gen 6:19 Bring into the boat with you a male and a female of every kind of animal and bird, as well as a male and a female of every reptile. I don't want them to be destroyed. (could they have continued reproduction in a year period?)
Gen 6:20 (SEE 6:19)
Gen 6:21 Store up enough food both for yourself and for them. (enough for the family and the animals for at least a year for they survived).
Gen 6:22 Noah did everything the LORD told him to do. ( if Noah asked the same question, God told him what to do), the author, Moses probably thought people living in this century would be wise enough to figure things out, how Noah caged the beasts, how he stored grains, how he cooked the flesh of animals offered as sacrifice, etc. so he didn't bother to write the details.

Hello there,
You really think that it is matter for the animals to eat up each other (to survive, must eat) when God have the power to command all the different species of animals to gather together and walk up to the ark in the first place?
This type of question can only pop up in an Atheist brain..:)
When you already Denied God existence, anything things which is not capable to be done by Men or it is possible or not, you try it on God capabalities.
anyway i'm not Christian.

The story in Genesis is the same as the Babylonian story of Gilgamesh. The Jewish priests were in exile in Babylon when the story was written.
It is a reference to the Babylonian cosmology of civilization coming into being flowering then becoming deviant and then wiped out in a flood then coming into being again.
It is a metaphor for the earths wobble through the zodiac
Any society that depends on crops has to know when to plant them it is about the seasons and stars.
age of patriarchs in Genesis added will equal a number I don't remember off hand but the number of weeks in that number will equal 864,00 divided by 2 will be 432,000
age of Hindu yuga in there cosmology 432,000,000
number of doors in the halls of Odin 432
it has all been researched Not by me and not by nuts but by anthropologists
4+3+2=9
9x9=81
1/81 = 12345678
8/81= 98765432
98765432 x 9 = 888888888
12345678 x 9 = 111111111
432x432=186624 (close to the accepted universal constant speed of light)
Besides the numbers in genesis coinciding with the mathematics necessary to calculate the circumference of the earth and its position relating to the sun its changing north star.
its a pretty good love story Two by two and a family sticking by a man who everyone said was nuts.

well, it's obvious. he froze them all and thawed them out when the flood was over!
(only joking. who knows. it's a story to teach a lesson. don't take it literally or that brings about the question of what happened to all the animals AFTER the flood. because if they're were only two of each everyone would have to mate with their siblings/parents/grandparents and then we should have some SERIOUS inbreeding...)
and besides, in the stories god does a lot of weird stuff. maybe he gets a kick out of stressing people out. (make them build boats, wander in deserts, and kill thier son to name a few things...)
and also, what were the herbivores eating? did he have a forest hidden in his boat somewhere? well, if you figure out an answer, feel free to tell me because really, it's not logical at all...

in case you study purely slightly of of Genesis6-9 you will see that the animals did no longer consume flesh till AFTER the flood - and that Noah introduced into the ark nutrition for all the animals.

LOL. Interesting (dumb) question. Maybe all animals were kept SEPERATE in the ark. Herbivores with herbivores, and carnivores with carnivores. And what animals can survive a world wide flood of God's magnitude? NAME ONE.

The ark was towing a barge with about 200 tons of meat (that somehow stayed fresh), as well as 400 tons of plant material (T-Rex's eat a lot). Sadly neither of these gigantic boats has been found.
