I'm doing a psychology research project with undergraduates and found that there is a correlation between one's ability to reach their fullest potential (self actualization) and their perceived love of their parents. I want to write a discussion section explaining that self actualization is important for the individual/society because....

Thanks for the responce, but I was looking for something more practical (i.e. how it would benefit clinical counseling, how it can help the individual understand the underlying cause of their psychological difficulties)... :)

Huh? Really, because of a million things. Frist off is how this reflects the society, allow the individuals with in that society to reach the ability to serve their own purpose is a reflection of that societies ability. There is a recipcol role between society and individual or else we wouldn't have change. That aside its parmount towards a persons development to make it to this point, missing any of the hyiarchy of needs has effects on all other needs. That aside even this is a sign of ones ability to met their social needs, which would reflect on the ability of the parents (and the society, to an almost equal part) to raise that kiddo to a point of truly being human, of fully developing. The needs isn't about could be's its about should be. Something people don't regarly accept, espacially becuase if you look at our society you see the consequence of them not being met, we'll find a way......
