It really depends on the individual, like how much you currently weigh, your age, your height, your sex. but for the average adult less then 1100 calories is usually considered low calorie.

2300 calories or less a day, usually 1800 -- 2160 calories a day. Don't let anybody else tell you any different if you're a girl. For a boy, 2160 -- 2520.

those kinds of terms are rather subjective as the caloric intake needed for one person to lose weight may cause another to have a caloric excess and gain weight.

you want to intake sufficient calories to maintain your current body weight while staying lean.
