I need to drink more water but how? I always reach for a soda instead!

Water is something to hard to drink alone. Try with some lemon flavor. Iced tea works too.

Just drink filtered water from tap at 3 cents a gallon and add a tiny bit of powder lemonade mix or iced tea mix, country time or food club, doesn't matter, and you will get addicted to it in a matter of weeks. It will flush out your system and it isn't carbonated so it doesn't fill you up or dehydrate you

I had this battle. I crave Pepsi myself. At some point I decided to drink a gallon/day. ...then I settled for two bottle. For me I would set sort of a reward system. I would drink a certain amount of water (say half a bottle) and allow myself a soda. I always keep a bottle on hand. I tend to drink gulps of water in between sips of soda. I figure it's that much more I'm getting and I can get the flavor of the soda at the same time. When I drank a whole gallon (being sort of a small person) it was pretty difficult. it's basically being sure to drink a cup every hour. I guess it depends on how much you want. one or two bottles should be easy

I started drinking more water ever since I became more active. Go outside and play some basketball or soccer. By doing this, you would reach for water instead of soda, which slows you down. Now, the only thing I drink is water and milk. I can't drink soda or anything carbonated because it hurts my throat because all I drank was water so my throat is used to water.

I had this same problem awhile ago, but i was very sick of being dehidrated and getting these nasty headaches!

I solved this problem from not buying any sodas for my house. I bought a huge 24 case of water bottles and kept it in my car and some at my house. This way when i am thirsty i reach for an easy accesible waterbottle rather than a Rootbeer.

That works the best for me but other ideas include:
-keeping a nalgene filled in your purse or car ALL THE TIME~
- Make it a goal to drink a certain amount of water a day.
- Limit sodas to only one night a week. This way you are not depriving which just makes you want it more!

Hope these help

Erm maybe you can try getting some empty soda bottles and fill it with water. Then the outside appearance looks like it's a soda, but then it's actually water. That might be more convincing to yourself to drink it.

But anyhow, the best way is to not have any other beverages besides water in your house.

carry a bottle of water with you and when dining out only drink water then at work only drink water you can also have club soda to fill the need for a soda at least it doesn't have the sugar. these are the ways i drink water and then give yourself a treat of a soda for some evening..

Here's what works for me:
Instead of buying soda, buy water. Keep it in your fridge, in the trunk of your car, in your backpack or purse, whatever it takes. Set a time limit for yourself like this: I will drink a bottle of water at least every odd hour of the day. Once you get used to drinking the water, you will be thirsty for it; other drinks will no longer satisfy you. If you really want to drink something else, make a rule to yourself that you must drink some water before consuming the other drink.

You need to find an alternative that you can live with.

I used to drink "Cheerwine" and "Seagrams Ginger Ale", like mad, now I only buy a six pack a month or less as a reward for drinking more water. I like "Raspberry Ice" Crystal Light and they have 2 others I drink that have energy additives "Wild Strawberry" and "Cherry Pomegranate", both are very tastey. Then there's Kool-Aid it's sugary and got a bunch of different flavors.
Try limiting your caffeine intake because that makes your thirst more. Coffee and Tea in high doses can actually dehydrate you because of their diuretic effects.
Drinking Mountain Dew in excess can lead to kidney stones in some people. It also has alot of caffeine in it, which is why after you finish drinking one... you just want another.

Hope this helps!

Will power...Mind over matter...Strength of conviction.
Leave the nasty sodas alone. When you get to the point where even drinking water gives you heartburn, then you will understand why you need to leave the cans of acid (soda) alone.

I wasn't much of a water drinker either, but if you squeeze fresh lemon in the water and then put it in the freezer till it starts to get ice on it, it is very refreshing.
it quenches your thirst better than soda or juice.
that's the way i will drink water.
