Fist you can buy a K&N washable air filter , these allow much more air flow for the motor and give about an extra 5kw or more. To free up the Exaust by Extractors and better flowing Cat Converter and fitting a performance sports system from cat back will give another appox 10-12kw in most cases.
Or if you want some serious power gaines and don"t mind spending some $$ Go for a supercharger kit from CAPA, they cost betwen $5,500 - $7,500

I'm not sure if believe you about owning a Boss 429. 99.99% of the people who have own them don't drive them because they are worth so much money. Some sell for $250,000! If you modify it you would be making it worth less. Are you really going to go out and beat on a Boss 429?

Anyway I'll answer the question. Boss 429's were so set up so lame from the factory it was rediculous. Ford just needed to sell 500 per year to legalize it for NASCAR. They were never really meant to kill cars on the street, Ford just wanted that motor on the track to go after the Hemi's. In stock form usually the 428 Cobra Jet would outrun a Boss 429.

The mechanical cam version was the best. I would get headers on that car and change the carb. I think they were way undercarbed. The heads are almost overkill, to make power it has to turn some high rpms. Set up correctly that car can make very serious horsepower. The ports are enormous, really too big for the street. Get a cam that matches what you intend to do, get a new carb, gearing and full exhaust. That car will go like a raped ape.

But there is no such thing as cheap horsepower, ESPECIALLY when talking about a Boss 429.

By the way, my own personal opinion, one of the baddest cars ever produced.

there is no reason to ever need more power than a true "boss 429" will produce. they were probably the most awesome engine ford ever put in a production car. they already were a base racing engine to start with and all they need to produce power is good fuel of 100 octane or better.

If you have a real BOSS 429, why would you want to modify it. There were 1359 total made over two year time. They are very hard to find. If something brakes, it wont be cheap to fix.

Depends on how fat your wallet is... @ $3 a gal and a high
performance motor (big block even) getting 6 to 8 miles a
gal. it just depends on what you can afford... you can make
big ponies out of your car with some well thought out planning that includes a nice performance Hydraulic lifter cam (stay away from solid lifter cam for street) a good intake and carb
and some nice flow thru exhaust work...

How about Nitrous Oxide (NOS) injection?

There are various things you can do, Take a trip to a performance auto shop and ask for some ideas. DO NOT use nitrous injection, that is illegal for street use.
