I have been looking at the profiles of some of the "atheists" that seem to answer all of the questions in R&S. They are so determined to challenge we beleivers. My question is why are you so vehement about this topic? Okay, you don't believe. Whatever. But why go out of your way to put down those of us that do? Why be so negative towards we who follow Jesus? Even if you don't believe that Jesus is the son of God, his teachings are beautiful. Why have it your mission to put down a man who says God loves each of us? Do you think perhaps something sinister is feuling you? Why not let each person believe what they want? It isn't hurting anyone. There are the extremists in every case. I understand being put off by those that preach damnation to gays.....but that is definately the minority. Can't we all just get along?

Ms. Tauras, ha-ha. That really is funny. See I'm a Christian with a good sense of humor.

Smart one. Simmer down now. I realize that believing is Jesus is the way. However, I really don't think he's just going to leave the rest to rot in hell. God loves us all. Remember Jesus' own words, "forgive them Father, for they no not what they do." I think he still feels that way.

Nebet....I looked up the profiles of Athesits because I noticed "frequent flyers". They are so focused on only answering Christian questions, it seems to me to be an unhealty obsession.

That was the method used by the college professors to turn them into atheists-browbeating and bullying.
Look up Richard Dawkins, he uses the same method to belittle his contemporaries into belief in bio-genesis/evolution.
Statements like "No serious biologist doubts evolution" are key to his methods.
Fortunately, there are some of us who easily see through these methods (such as the accusations that all religionists/Christians are 'brainwashed') and understand that these people are just as deluded as the religionist who has never tested the claims on both sides of the fence and truly made up their own mind.
There are no true individual believers of anything! All have submitted to influence of others in one way or the other.
(Love it when I strike a cord close to home, thanks for the reinforcing thunbs down atheists!)
Best thing about an 18-25 year old mind? It is so easy to influence, that is why the military loves that age group as it's primary recruits. Ditto for atheism.
Experience? Been to college, had the dogma foisted on me, tested the evidence, stood my ground!

Because we can see how religion has put a stranglehold on the earth, and has been a major factor in most wars. Religion has influenced our government, and christianity helped elect Bush, and look where we are now.
No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says: He is always convinced that it says what he means.“--George Bernard Shaw
“The Bible is a book that has been read more and examined less than any book that ever existed.” --Thomas Paine
“Most people are bothered by those passages of Scripture they do not understand, but the passages that bother me are those I do understand.” --Mark Twain
“If you believe that exposing your children to violence is a problem, by all means keep them away from the Bible.” --Rev. Charles Henderson
“The Old Testament, as everyone who has looked into it is aware, drips with blood; there is, indeed, no more bloody chronicle in all the literature of the world.” --Henry L. Mencken
“When the missionaries came to Africa they had the Bible and we had the land. They said "Let us pray." We closed our eyes. When we opened them we had the Bible and they had the land.” -- Desmond Tutu
“The Bible and the Church have been the greatest stumbling blocks in the way of women's emancipation.” --Elizabeth Cady Stanton
“The Bible itself is intolerant, and true followers of God's word should be as well.”-- Bob Jones III, president of Bob Jones University
“The Christian community continues to exist because the conclusions of the critical study of the Bible are largely withheld from them.” --Hans Conzelmann
“The Catholics have a Pope. Protestants laugh at them, and yet the Pope is capable of intellectual advancement. In addition to this, the Pope is mortal, and the church cannot be afflicted with the same idiot forever. The Protestants have a book for their Pope. The book cannot advance. Year after year, and century after century, the book remains as ignorant as ever.” --Robert Ingersoll
“The New Testament authors did not customarily refer to their written record as the Word of God. That subsequent Christian tradition tends to do this while the writers themselves hesitate to do it should tell us something. Evidently they distinguished the difference between the living, infinite Word and the written record more clearly than we do. If the written record is ever called the Word, it is the Word only in a secondary, derivative or relational sense. It is not the Word in the absolute sense.” --Robert D. Brinsmead

Most of us are not negative toward people who follow Jesus.
Do you know how many times people approach me to believe in god? Same for me, I feel that religous people are so determine to ridicule us who don't believe.
Just because you have a different belief, you notice us more. Just like you said, there are always some extremist but most of us get along together.

If people kept their beliefs to themselves, there'd be no problem. The problem is, religion doesn't leave you alone. There are laws on the books that wouldn't exist were it not for religion. Do you think a secular society would care about what people choose to put in their bodies? I doubt it. Where are the secular arguments against gays being allowed to be able to enter into the same social contracts that straights do? That's right, there are none.
Also, there are no atheists waging wars over differences in theological beliefs, no atheists flying planes into buildings, no atheists bombing abortion clinics, and no atheists hindering the progress of scientific and medical research. Atheists aren't doing these things, theists are.
Finally, your belief in God is as ridiculous to us as belief in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or the Tooth Fairy. Don't you think an adult who still believes in Santa Claus would get his fair share of mockery? That's how your beliefs seem to us.

hmmm so you looked at the profiles of atheists and found that atheists often challenge you believers. whatta surprise to find such a phenom on an open forum. i suspect anyone who frequent this forum do so to gain information, for entertainment, to debate and to express their views.
and then you whine that atheists put Christians down. while you were looking at profiles of atheists i guess you didn't bother to look thru the profiles of Christians and read some of the very nasty insults directed at non-Christians (especially atheists). i guess you didn't take note of the constant haranguing, proselytizing and hell threats. if you had bothered and noted you would understand why atheists and other non Christians express negativity towards Christians. atheists don't put Jesus down. they don't even believe Jesus existed. it's the proud ignorance and smug egotism of the Christian Fundies that atheists and other non-Christians put down and deservedly so. perhaps something sinister fuels the hate filled and bigoted Fundy Christians. "why not let people believe what they want?"?! tell that to your ever preaching brethren who use threats of eternal torture as a coercion tool in their attempt to convert people and to appear as all knowing and powerful as their god.
we won't "just get along" as long as Christians keep shoving their Biblical dogma into our secular government institutions.

As a non Christian, but one open to the possibility a divine presence, I respect your effort to accept disbelief. Some atheists are hateful at times, but they act as such because they see the countless problems organized religion cause. They see you as a part of the theocratic machine that has brought so much injustice, judgement, and bigotry upon mankind in the name of the "Lord".

The atheists are people who havent searched for God wholeheartedly. They maybe good people, but they are still searching - and because of that, they want to convert others to their thoughts. People need to run in packs like wolves. The majority of people are lemmings - and they follow. The socially cool thing to do today is to "bash" the Christian majority. This is just a phase; the pendulum swings and it will - but if you are Christian, you should pray for the conversion of atheists...that God will reveal Himself to those who do not believe. He will reveal Himself ultimately to everyone, but that timing (2 seconds after death for some) is up to Him and Him alone.

Inherent in being an atheist is the belief that there is nothing bigger than yourself. Like a lot of other people who subconsciously question themselves, they need to put down others to build themselves up, to reassure themselves that being an atheist is the best way. All hatred springs from self loathing. Don't forget, this is nothing new for Christians... It's from what our beliefs spring. Christ is constantly teaching us how to live among all people, even those that hate us.

The same reason the people of Noah's day ridiculed him for building the Ark.
Jesus told us this would happen so if you get your feelings hurt because some atheist ridicules you... you need to pray for some spiritual strength against such.
