I have 2 pet mice, they are friendly towards people, but very cautious. You have to let them approach your hand and sniff it all over, and give them them time to get used to you. They have to investigate and get used to you first.

It depends on the individual, they have personalities like the rest of us. I've never met a "mean" mouse but have lived with a couple who simply don't trust humans & although they've never bit anyone were never socialized towards ppl. We still have one, a girl about 2 yrs old & it took well over a year before she trusted me enough to let me pet her she's still quite nervous. I'm happy that she'll beg for treats & take them from my hand, if that's her comfort level so be it. One of her cage-mates was positively terrified of humans & although she eventually got to the point that she'd take treats from me, she'd squeeze her eyes shut before approaching my fingers!
Most of the mice I've known have been much more social & enjoyed being handled. One girl, named Depeche Mouse, would hop right onto my hand & climb up my arm.

Depends on the mouse and how much they have been handeled. We just got 2 pet mice and they are still a little skitish but doing better. The more they are handeled the better. Give them time to come to you and smell.

I will answer this like I answer many of these types of questions...It depends on the animal. If you get some from a reputable breeder that has handled them and knows what they are doing...then yes! Mice are very friendly. My mouse lil' shag will come out and look for me to pick her up. She will run back and forth and put her paws out till I give her some attention. My other two like to hide, but will allow me to pick them up without ant problems. It takes time and patients to work with rodents. But the payoff is worth the time and effort. You have to win the animals trust, but this is true with any animal you will meet..

Mice are very cautious but can be quite friendly. Though mice like to urinate and poo on your hand a lot so if you can I would recommend a rat :)

I would get a rat. Mice urinate on everything and are hard to handle.
