As someone who is involved with competitive trapshooting on the world level first thing - Brownings aren't that great. They really don't deserve the accalades they get. They're inexpensive and will do the job, if you're not doing a lot of volume shooting invest your money into something better.
You could take a look at a used Remington 3200 Trap. Thats one of the most reliable guns ever made, and had the fastest lock time of any over-under. They were made in the 70's and 80's but its not uncommon to find them in good shape (on the other hand watch out for heavily used "dogs").
Trap guns generally aren't inexpensive...and field guns definitely lack features of a trap gun. Try the Browning...if you like them and it fits you well give it a try, otherwise look for something more reliable.

Over/unders are great they add the challenge and sport of trapshooting pumps are fun to shoot but they just don't have the same feel as an over/under. I use a over/under 12ga. Clayco that my dad had before I was bore and the gun works great and still looks beautiful its the best gun I have. Brownings are very nice but they are very expensive.

why go with an over under when you could get 5-7 shot pump or semi auto mossberg 500 ultra, it seriously is the best 12 guage I have owned. and if you dont want a brand new one, probably because they look cheap with the materials they use now, then go to a gander mountain store or any used gun smith around and I'm sure you can find one. But seriously think about the pump or semi auto options its alot better to know you have 5 shots as opposed to only 2

Can't go wrong with the Browning Citori. . .
Nice handling shot gun, classic lines, beautiful wood and bluing.
Plan to spend at least a couple grand.

Browning is the cadillac of shotguns.
Open the action and close it. Compare that to the sound of an over the counter Remington or Winchester.
However, you get what you pay for.
Talke care of it, and your grandchildren will be using it.

I am a young trapshooter and I used to shoot with my dad's citori. It is a very nice gun but it is kinda expensive. Now I got my own Winchester Select Energy and I shoot well with it and it is a beautiful gun. (Although the citori is much nicer looking)
