and that we are to be submissive to our husbands? God knew what He was doing, so why do you object so much?

Wow! Have you asked a loaded question?

I will venture out and speculate that this is one of the most MISUNDERSTOOD themes of the entire Bible. Most women wrongly equate submissiveness with servitude or the "doormat syndrome". Likewise, many men of the world also misunderstand the intent.......and abuse it to use women as personal property for their whims and control.

Personally, I find it insulting to hear a man refer to his lovely wife as " my ole lady". Many women calmly accept this......... I would clean my husband's clock for doing that.

Fortunately, I feel blessed with a husband who deserves a woman of my character to be his "helpmeet". Most of the men I have the pleasure of knowing fall short of my dedication and loyalty. That is not to set myself up as something special, it is only to say, that most men can not see beyond their own ego. What woman would want to submit to such a man?

It has far more to say about manhood, than it does about keeping women inferior. In my opinion and experience, here is where the problem lies. A worthy man recognizes the contributions of his wife both inside and outside of the home. She has a great deal of value to him. The responsibilities of a worthy man are NUMEROUS, I would not want to be the man, but simply be with the man.

Consider all of the husbands in prison for murder, incest, or assault and battery. Then consider all of the husbands who do such things who are not in prison.

Read the whole Bible, not just a few select verses regarding this theme.

Women can also live a single life, and be completely fulfilled.

They can also hold positions of leadership, as they did in the Bible.

they object because people who talk about it can't explain it properly, and people who object to it don't really understand it properly.

wives are commanded to submit to their husband's lead

but husbands are commanded to submit to their wife's needs.

JUST AS CHRIST LOVED THE CHURCH AND DIED FOR.

I don't know how much intellect or humility a person needs to understand this simple concept that THIS IS NOT UNFAIR
Specially when you look at the command that a husband has to love his wife like Christ did. I mean ... oh well, blame it on the school system, or maybe the chlorine in the water...
Maybe its all the fossil fuels we have been burning.. hah... oh well.

The MEN that wrote the bible made women submissive to men...Not God. God sees us as equalsa who should have mutual care and love for one another. But I guess if you are into that submissive thing...from what I understand, lot's of people "get off" on being dominated.

Because part of the world (middle eastern countries) twisted that into being slaves and doing everything we're told. That is not what God means. Abuse, having multiple wives...none of that was in God's plan.

Both the man and woman are supposed to honor and respect each other.

Since I don't believe in deities I don't ascribe to that little bit of antiquated advice either. I am equal to other human beings and my marriage runs on a 50/50 partnership; I respect myself too much to settle for anything less that that.

I think you meant 'helpmate'. And if you can't see the problems with that belief, you're beyond help and there's no point in trying to answer this.
