Examples of someone not respecting you would be if they did not value your contributions to the marriage (your profession, your work around the house etc.), if they nagged you, always raised their voice at you & treated you like a baby etc.

It's possible for your boss to respect you but not love you... it's possible for your mother to love you but not respect you for your accomplishments... I don't think they are 100% intertwined

If I had to live with her I would rather be respected. I could get love somewhere else.

I would rather she didn't respect me. If she loves me, then I have the chance to build the respect required to make the marriage work.

As far as the rest of you are concerned, why can you not see the question through her eyes? Instead, you read it verbatum and criticize her for asking it. Personally, I think it's pathetic. She asked you to make a choice and you found it difficult. Ridiculous.

I answered this question under the women's version. Respect is a part of love -- you can't have one without the other.

That is a no-right-answer question...
Have you stopped beating your wife yet?
If yes, then you use to beat her...
If no, then you are still beating her.
