Mine is Esther, for it tells the story of a great woman - who rose from being an orphan to becoming queen & head consort of all Persia & Media, but all the while staying true to her Jewish heritage.

It is a story of unbelievable courage and virtue, which shows us that even an ant can change the ways of the world if it only tried!

SORRY - I meant "book", not chapter...

My appologies... I didnt think quick enough to write the question correctly - haven't had any coffee yet this morning!

I assume that you meant, book, not chapter. I think Esther is a great story of female heroism, although Ruth is just as good and a little racier, but I'd have to pick James. His letter is a sharp reproach to the excesses of cheap-grace evangelicalism.

I love the book of John. It carries a powerful message and chapter 3 is virtually the entire Bible in one chapter.

Ecclesiastes. It's a great exploration of the classic human existentialist crisis - all life is vanity...

Though, I don't agree with the conclusion reached (that God is the solution to all existentialist crises).

Romans 8:
31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."[l] 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[m] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 51.

It is always a reminder that we ALWAYS need God's forgivness.

(Just a note-the question is CHAPTER, not book!)
