Too late. I have 8 children. I don't regret the decision. My kids are my life.

I don't want kids. Atheist.

At first glance, I don't think these are related, but there actually might be something to it. I don't see life as a prize of any kind, which probably separates me from other religious people. The only thing you're absolutely guaranteed in life is struggle and death. Also, if you look at the two main reasons people have children (they want a companion and they want someone to take care of them when they are old), you see that the whole thing is quite selfish. This, to me, is rather immoral behavior, as the inevitable suffering of a new individual is so ridiculously unnecessary. However, I think adoption is one of the noblest things you can do. The children that already exist need parents as much or more than the parents need children. I think that the next natural step in our evolution is to realize that there is no point to life and to just give it up, rather than colonize space (which is impossible before anything else).

I am an atheist and I don't want children. Even if I did, I would adopt rather than have biological children because there are many in need of a home. I help children in my own way rather and wish to expand on that than offer my sole devotion to just one or two.
I don't think this choice has anything to do with my atheism. If I was religious then there would be pressure to do marry and have children but its just me as a person who doesn't want marriage or children. I just have other interests.

i'm 24/f and do not want any of my own.

I think the world is a pretty bad place and is only going to get worse. (crime, population, disease, war etc) I wish I were born earlier actually .. growing up in the 50's would have been great !

.. When the time comes.. the chances of me adopting will be a much greater chance. I would rather save a life that is already here

I don't want kids and am Jewish, but my decision not to have kids has nothing to do with my religion. Judaism actually encourages me to have kids ("be fruitful and multiply" from Genesis). But I am 33 and planning on starting a second career soon which involves 5 years of school, so, I'm choosing not to have kids because I won't have time to raise them.

All societies are based on rules to protect pregnant women and young children. All else is surplus age, excrescence, adornment, luxury or folly which can--and must--be dumped in emergency to preserve this prime function. As racial survival is the only universal morality, no other basic is possible. Attempts to formulate a “perfect society” on any foundation other than “women and children first!” is not only witless, it is automatically genocidal. Nevertheless, starry-eyed idealists (all of them male) have tried endlessly--and no doubt will keep on trying

No religious affiliation - I'm an atheist. I've made the conscious decision to not have children.

I'd love to have a child of my own, one of the greatest acts one can do is to nurture a child to become a better person than yourself, religion = my own

I do not want children, I am currently an atheist, and also felt that way when I was a Christian.
