For this discussion, let us say their is a being we call god.
How do we know he is really all powerful and that created the world?
It’s like the wizard of oz.
So he said he is all powerful and that created the world.
I can say that, doesn’t make it the truth?

ha ha ha you are funny daglas69.
This universe didn't come from nothing. It was created and whatever you call him (we call him G-d, the lord, Alla'h, adoneih, etc, etc) he is the one who created the universe.

There is a story about a believer who was invited for lunch to the house of a group of atheists. The believer went late to the invatation. When the atheists asked him why he was late, he replied,
"I was coming on time but suddenly a river was created between your house and my house and I couldn't cross"
So the atheists said, "and then how did you cross".
The believer said " well, suddely all the sticks were gathered from the ground all together and a boat was made from those sticks so I got on the boat and I sailed to the other side of the river"

One of the atheists jumped and shouted, "you are a lier, how can a river be suddely created and the sticks suddenly come together and form a boat, this just is not logical and makes no sense"

Then the believer said to them "If you can't believe that a boat was formed from pieces of stick that were suddely gathered together, how can you believe that this whole universe was created suddenly by no creator????? This just is not logical and makes no sense"

The question is what authority you accept. All knowledge is based in information giving oral reception and then put into writing. Scientist say some theory and people accept, they are authority. But this theories change from time to time, because their research is based in experimental knowledge from their imperfect senses. Now, Religion is based in books. This books also have information that was recorded in ancient times, like the Vedas and is giving now from authorized representatives and what is the proof? The proof are themselves, the lives they live is according to the scriptures, and the scriptures are the evidence themselves and there Krishna says:
mattaù parataraà nänyat
kiïcid asti dhanaïjaya
mayi sarvam idaà protaà
sütre maëi-gaëä iva
SYNONYMS
mattaù—beyond Me; para-taram—superior; na—not; anyat kiïcit—anything else; asti—there is; dhanaïjaya—O conqueror of wealth; mayi—in Me; sarvam—all that be; idam—which we see; protam—is strung; sütre—on a thread; maëi—gaëäù—pearls; iva—like.
TRANSLATION
O conqueror of wealth, there is no truth superior to Me. Everything rests upon Me, as pearls are strung on a thread.
Everyone depend from some authority and God says here that is nothing and nobody superior to Him.
Then, what authority are you going to accept is up to you.

You don't have to believe anything the Bible says, or that God says. But if you reject the Son of God, and refuse to be born of the Spirit, you will have a lot of time in hell to think about that mistake. And almost all the earths population will join you. Maybe then all of you can work together to try and figure out where you went wrong.

daglas69 - what answers are you expecting to get here?! It's going to be all "I look at the world around me and I just KNOW that it was created by an all-powerful God." Either that, or "The Bible says so," even though logically one can't use a source of information to prove that source's own accuracy. Or you'll get the argument from ignorance: "I don't believe that this could happen without an all-powerful creator."

This will be too predictable! :)

we don't5 know anything...
but we have advanced our abilities to discern..
why would we want to de-evolve and follow thought...
propagated thousands of years ago...
God...like conspiracy theories....
Is just something made up....to try to make sense...
of what we observe...
but is the science...the tools...that we create...
that affords us our current lively hood...
and encourages us to ask tougher questions...
to be obliterated by creationist thoughts
god.... religion ...they assume they have all the answers..
all the solutions...
but have no problem using science...evolution
to enjoy their lovely homes...SUV's. radio, video...our creativity and entertainment...
and claim it is all god..
what about woman....goddess....cohort....consort....
We ... used to worship god as a mother (senad o'conner) mary's account.... was taken out of the bible....
It's a male world....and thought
.....god

how do you know that the earth is millions of years old? (wouldnt the poplulation way waaay larger if the earth really was milliond of yrs old?)
do you really belive that humans came from a rock?
and the everthing, cells, DNA, complex organisms, came from a big explosion (the "big bang")?
do you think that the world created itself by accident and that everything else just kinda followed?

There is no evidence that such a claim it accurate. In fact, the evidence strongly suggests that there was no supernatural influence on the universe at all.
