The biggest con is that it's illegal and if you get caught you'll go to jail. =] And another is that XP sucks.

Pros....uh, you don't have to pay for a piece of crap.

If you need a free operating system, try Linux. It's awesome.

"Pare"., oh I mean dude.. Of course piracy is bad. That is, if you let the Cats catch you. There are a lot of ways to conceal piracy. Mine's a pirated one, I only made it genuine through hacking. That way, the cats wont know that you're using an illegal copy. Besides having "hacked/cracked/bypassed" XP (worth <100 bucks) is the same as having a REAL genuine one (worth thousands of Pesos) in general. I'm having my hacked XP and yet, I can download ANY Microsoft Products. That means they think my XP is genuine. Microsoft's Genuine Advantage scanner scanned my PC and it showed that I am a genuine XP user. =) You can download tips, tricks and tutorials on how to make your XP genuine through the web. Just BE RESOURCEFUL, pare. ^^, Mabuhay Ang Pinoy Hackers!

The pros are it's free

The cons are if you get caught you will be subject to a very large fine, possibly jail.

You can't get any critical updates windows puts out or any updates period without getting caught because microsoft will scan your computer for a valid, authorized version of windows before letting you have any updates.

When they scan it, if they find out it's not they will offer to sell it to you and if you say no thanks your busted. If you say yes they will charge you for the cost of purchasing the program.

The difference in home and pro are mostly the graphics.

You have stolen the Intellectual Property of a major corporation and when they track you down, you will go to prison.

Remember the story of the young woman that is being fined a lot of money because she stole music online and distributed it.

Think of her if you use a pirated Microsoft product. It may be a long time before you see your family.

my nephew put it on my computer. i had no idea it was a pirated version. a couple months later, i got a pop up from microsoft saying i needed to download updates for my computer. well, i downloaded them just like i used to do my 98. it sent me to the microsoft website to pay for a real version of the xp. there were tons of things i could no longer do unless i bought the real version. so i ended up paying the $149.00 to upgrade. it was either that, or have a computer as worthless as a dos based computer of the 80's.

con: its illegal but dont worry you wont get caught because you are not registered with microsoft so you anonomys to them, just dont run the updates because when you do they have to see if you serial number is valid/real to run the updates and if they see that someone else has the same serial and they are also running the updates automaticly they will advice saying that you are a victim of piracy, but nothing will happen because you are not registered no personal information was given to them about you so your fine, dont worry about it,
so just turn off the updates

As for pros and cons, you don't have to pay anything, but when you try to download anything off the microsoft site, you are unable to download it without a legidiment version of windows.

Pros:
It cost a lot less then buying the real version.
Cons:
If you don't have a valid product code, it will shut down within 15-30 day (I can't remember the time frame).
