I've the piano and voice are sorta like an item. I will learn the keys and etc, once I've learned the piano. The examples I was given was John Legend, Alicia Keys, and Jamie Foxx. In my opinion, all three of the fore mentioned, have extraordinary vocal talents/ability. Is this because of their second ability to play the piano also? I am thinking about taking voice lessons, along with some piano lesson, but probably not in one. Any advice!!! I am 16, and I am very serious about sharpening my skills. I love music...this is my life. I know that if I don't make it in entertainment, I will become some sort of music teacher/instructor/coach or etc. Hopefully, I have enough talent to make it in the industry. I am willing to pay anything I have to get where I want to go.Please Help!

I would say all the answers so far are looking too narrowly at what you want to improve. Playing the keyboard will help your voice a lot. It helps because it helps your mind understand music. To often in singing, you don't know what to sing until someone teaches it to you and you understand it, and so there's a lot of hesitation in the beginning, and makes you slower at sounding as good on a song and you could sound. Playing the piano will help you read music and that will care over to helping you read music as a singer, and give your voice more confidence early on.
There are some physical benefits as well. The more you play the piano the more you will get use to hearing certain harmonies and knowing when you play a wrong note. As a singer, this becomes very valuable in being able to keep on pitch and not go flat. Being able to sing on key and knowing whether you're sharp or flat isn't a god-given talent (maybe to some level it is), but it's more a skill that needs practice, and piano helps you practice it.
Plus, if you ever go want to go to college to be a singer, you'll have to play the piano, there is no way to avoid it! Start now, it'll be worth it.

Is is true that if I learned to play the piano my vocal skills/range would increase? The only way that your range would increase is if you practice scales, and at the same time vocally do scales. Practice is what will help you, also
stand straight as the diaphram is what will help with your range. I have been seeing a chiropractor for a back injury and I noticed that after about two months of therapy I have a wider range. I beleive that has helped alot.
As for your skills, practice will do that, also study theory and surround yourself with those musicians who will challenge your skill level. Hope this helps!

No, its not.
You can get better at singing with practice, better posture, and using your diaphragm (tone it through exercise; learn to breath from it, which increases vocal range).
However, getting an instrument (guitar, harp, piano, cello, etc.) may help you match your voice to musical notes. You don't even need to know how to play well, beyond knowing the names of keys and such.
Play an E note, try to match your voice to it. Play an F note, try and match your voice to it. And so on, with different notes.
Another factor to good singing is breath control, which enables you to increase note duration. Sadly, I'm not sure how to better this. Ask someone with better experience. : )
I've been told that humming makes for clearer sound while singing. Try that when you feel too embarrassed to sing.

No increase whatsoever. In the practice of the piano, your hands - fingers and thumbs - are your fundamental instruments of effectuation.
In singing, it is your vocal chords and breathing apparatus: diaphragm, lungs and pharynx.
BUT, if you are going into the realm of professional music regardless of your specific endeavor, knowledge of and the ability to perform on the piano, would be your greatest asset. So, by all means, study the piano.

No it is not true. Using myself as an example: I can play the
piano, the guitar and the Clarinet quite well but vocally I couldn't
carry a tune in a bushel basket.

if you learn to play any instrument, your life will be blessed with this gift of music. If you have the pipes to sing with, the piano will certainly give you a huge boost. work hard, be the best you can, and you wil be happy that you did. It's a gift! take it!
