Have you ever heard or seen that name? It was pronounced like --- ODD dril, with the accent on the first part of the word.

There's nothing French about the name. But it is Russian and Scandinavian. It's a variant of the old Finnish name Ostroil. Because Finland has a history of going back and forth between Sweden and Russian, it has some pretty nifty phonetics. This name goes back to at least the 5th century when there was a Scandinavian ruler named Odril/Ostroil.

It is a French name, though not a common one. Perhaps it is a family name, or your grandmother could have read it in a book.

Hope that helps.
