Diamonds: Put you hands together with index fingers and thumbs forming a diamond shape.

Wide Grip: Put your arms out wider than a normal push up.

doesn't really matter which type you do the end result is the same. many people mistakenly use localized fatigue to judge the effectiveness of an exercise vs the mechanics of the exercise.

this is commonly such as seen with all of the myths with "lower abdominal" training and such. when there are no lower abdominals. the localized fatigue that is felt if from exercises like leg lifts, etc. is from the muscles of the hip flexors which lie deep underneath the lower portion of the rectus abdominis. these are the actual muscle performing work as you can not target or isolate part of a muscle. muscles either contract as a whole or they do not contract at all.
