hi, we recently just bought a 1990 Winnebago Chieftain from a dealer down in Illinois....(We live in Wisconsin). We were driving it home when we noticed that the headlights were flashing. We looked everything over but we couldn't do much do to it being dark. We kept driving and it just kept flashing. They did this all the way home. The thing is that the parking brakes and the brake lights and the blinkers all work. I was wondering if anyone knew what was wrong with this camper!?!?!

Ground being loose could be it but, if that doesn't work have the headlight switch checked. The switch has an internal circuit breaker which will cut out when it senses too much current then reset itself when it cools. The flashing on and off because of a bad circuit breaker is a fairly common problem. Bad news is you have to replace the switch. Good news is they aren't terribly expensive.

You will find that your camper has a Grounding Problem... somewhere there is a loose or bad ground (neg - ) connection and it is messing with your headlights.... also check the output of your alternator and make sure it is not overcharging.. which will also make your headlights act erratic
good luck......

The headlights have their own ground each. If they come loose the headlights will blink on and off as the connection is moved around. Find the ground and you will find your problem.Good luck!

If you are going to HID lights, replace them both. If they still do not work, it is an open and not a short. If there was a short, it would blow fuses. I have not researched HID lights, but is there a ballast required on these? If so install it.
