your permit will work in many other state but one thing you need to check on is that my father was an over the road driver and at that time it was against the law to carry a fire arm in a commercial vehicle. it might have changed by now but you mite want to look into that.

I'm not sure where boker is getting info, but he/she is entirely wrong, virginia ccw's are only accepted in a few states. I know for a fact that NV wont accept a virginia permit (as of the begining of '07 we only accept utah's), neither will CA,MA,NY.

The only real national ccw is for retired law enforcement, they are still required to qualify once a year though.

So long as the weapon is legal, in the vehicle and your transporting it in a safe manner (there are small safes that mount easily in a vehicle) you are covered by whats called peaceable traval.

another option is to get a 2nd CCW from another state, Utah's CCW for example is one of the more widely excepted ccws.

check here though:

hi curt.maybe ask the federal court system in your area about that .they may be able to refer you to some department of that expertise.i do know that in ma.it's a big no no!i would think that the only reason to carry a piece is that what you're transporting is of value. you may want to consider another alternate means of protection. there are many defensive items on the market today that are not guns.
many years ago i had a handgun permit for my job.today it is quite difficult to acquire a national permit unless you're with the CIA or something of that nature. good luck!

I doubt it but, the Florida permit is good in 30 states.

Until Congress or the senate gets over the "guns are bad so lets ban them for everybody" B.S. I doubt it. Florida has the widest reciprocity coverage.

No, there is no such thing as a CCW which is valid in all 50 states, so be careful, or you may wind up in jail.

I'm hoping one of our other top contributers will have this info, but there's 5 states that if you get a CCW for that state it covers you for 49 states. Virginia is one. There's 4 more.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people, why do you need a gun in your profession? Leave it at home.
