The brands you listed are all good, but none of them come in .380 for the US market (the Glock .380 is marketed outside the US only). A pistol does not have to be built like a tank or be super-accurate, so the field is wide open and there are a lot of models. 9mm would be a good chocie because it is more powerful than a .380 and is cheaper (imagine that!).
There are more 9mm models available than any other caliber for a centerfire auto pistol.
Other models:
S&W Sigma (for basic self-defense on a budget)
S&W M&P (duty-quality combat pistol that exceeds many requirements)
Taurus PT-92 (Beretta clone)
Beretta 92FS (the real deal and these are getting cheaper)
Charles Daley HighPower (US/Hungarian Browning clone and less than 1/2 the cost of a real Highpower)
Springfield XD (the alternative to Glock)
There are many others of varying degrees of quality. I left out German models (Sig-Sauer/HK) because they are oevr he top for basic self-defense when it coems to cost.

Hi Jessica. Brand is a very personal choice. Glock is excellent only remember to store or carry in a holster that covers the trigger. Also, keep your finger outta the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.
Caliber is more important. You certainly don't want anything smaller than the .380 acp. The 9mm is actually better. Ammo is cheaper and easier to find world-wide. Depending on your level of expertise with handguns consider also the revolver in .38 Special & bigger. Remember that bullets shoot through a lot of drywall so be sure of your target and if anyone is sharing your living accomodations. Always use quality defensive ammo. In the nine you want 115 to 127 grain hollowpoint ammo, or Glazier-type pre-fragmented bullets. Plus P & +P+ ammo is not a must but great if you can handle the added bark & snap and your gun is rated for this ammo. Glocks & Ruger are rated for +P+; anything else check with the dealer.
Best.

A name brand ( Glock, Beretta, S&W, Ruger, et al) that fits your hand. People can say Glock all they want. If it doesn't fit, you won't shoot well! Spend the money on something decent.
Practice till it becomes second nature. A gun that you have to think to use is less effective when you really need it. People fight like they train.
Shotguns are too long for most in house work. They require two hands and are too cumbersome to use inside the house due to sheer length. Swing a broom around the room and you'll get the idea. Coming around the corner with one and most of the shotgun makes it in there long before the shooter. That gives the intruder a chance to grapple the barrel.

For home defense I would not chose a pistol first. If anyone has ever had anyone jack a round into a .12 pump shotgun behind them in the dark they know what I am talking about. I love the Model 12 Winchester or Remington 870 riot shotgun.
To answer your question in your terms, I would go with a 9mm and my personal favorite ( and my wife likes it and can handle it well) is a Ruger P95. The main thing you have to do after taking a poll like this however, is go test the ones recommended here and by others and see what ||"YOU" are comfortable and confident with in high stress, close quarters when a millisecond can mean the difference.
Take your time and chose well. Hope you never need to use it.

I like the Springfield Armory XD Series. They are easy to shoot with little felt recoil, natural pointers, meaning what you point at is what you shoot (to some degree, you will still need to aim). The trigger safety is identical to the Glocks safety, but the XD added a grip safety for added protection against accidental discharge. You also have a load indicator on the top of the slide that shows if you have a live round in the chamber. There is also a striker indicator that will show if the firearm is ready to be fired.
The XD comes in 9mm, .40cal, .45ACP and GAP, .375sig, as well as in sub-compact, compact, service, and tactical sizes. Between 9mm and .380 I would go with 9mm especially for protection. A little bigger. It is also cheaper to purchase.
The sub-compact comes with one regular mag and one mag with a grip extension to make it a full size grip. The compact is similar to the sub, but it has a 4” barrel. It can be used for conceal carry or as a duty weapon with the grip extension.
Springfield Armory XD 9mm V-10 Ported and .45ACP Tactical owner.
4 years firearm experience.

Glock and Ruger are good quality weapons. Both are reliable. But the best gun for you is the one you can hit your target with. A 44 mag is useless if you can't hit anything with it. A good one for a woman is a revolver, they are the most reliable, simplest to use and no worries about having a safety left on. Glock does not make a revolver so then you will have to go to a ruger in 38 special +p ammo. For a cheaper and also reliable gun there is Taurus and also Rossi. 38+p has the same recoil as the 9mm.

definately take the 9mm over the 380.
best handguns for home defense. heres my top 3.
1.beretta 92 fs/g/d (absolutely the most reliable 9mm semi auto availiable, (military trials shot 34,000 rds with only 14 stopages, yes thats one ftfeed every 2,000 plus rounds)
2.glock 17 (but it's ugly)
3. cz-75b or varients, the p-01 is the only other semi auto to break the 2,000 round between stopages mark.

I have 3 Glocks and think there is no substitute. go to a local dealer who has different models of Glocks and ask to see them, and get the one that fits your hand best. Consider a .40 instead of the 9mm. The 40 has more power and still doesn't kick bad.

The best choice for your purpose is a 357 Magnum with a 4" barrel in Smith & Wesson or Colt Brands. You get two (2)* handguns for the price of one (1)* because you can also shoot 38 caliber ammo in a 357 Magnum. It is a proven man stopper. For self-defense you should have nothing less than a 357 Magnum.* Revolver.*
