Every now and then, I have to cut the dead leaves off of my palm trees that I have in my yard or else the HOA writes me a nasty letter. Well, today I was out there and palm trees have leaves that have "teeth" on them like saws and I cut the living bejeezus out of both hands. Right now, I am typing with bandaged hands.
But it got me to thinking about Palm Sunday, and how they layed down palm leaves in the street because Jesus was coming. Maybe they didn't want him to come, and that is why they put those little green hacksaws down everywhere.
What do you think?

I think if you live in an area where you can grow palms, you can take a trip down the local nursery, and you will find that all the palm trees, some more than others, are "prickly" and not soft life ferns or something. Anything that will grow in a desert is not "soft"

I took your question seriously.....very interesting. I do know that palm leaves were a symbol of victory, and will be used again by Tribulation saints in heaven, who are clothed with white robes and are standing before the throne & the Lamb with palms in their hands. (((8T)))

Father K, Our church does some songs specific to Palm Sunday, (king, praise, etc...) but there is no procession or anything of that traditional type of thing. We note the day as the beginning of the passion week, and will mention how this was the start of a very active week in Jesus' ministry. We do have a joined service on Good Friday with other churches in our area.

What do I think? I think it is so weird that when you posted this question, a bunch of palm tree dealers instantly posted advertisements for palm trees right next to your question. So if I ask a question about proctology, will there be ads for what's new up the b u t t?
As to your question, they put those little mini-saws out there not bc they didn't want him to come, but bc they wanted him to know what he was in for in their town. Look what happened.

Sorry to hear about your hands hope they heal soon.
If dead leaves are not trimmed off, they can be a big fire danger.
This is interesting because palm trees are a habitat for such animals as rats, roaches, and pigeons and Olodumare is afraid of mice.

My face is red from embarrassment right now, lol!
When I saw the question, "Is this a different take on "Palm Sunday"?", my mind went somewhere completely different than what the question actually turned out to be about.....
My hands are fine, by the way; the only thing I've been doing with them is.....ah, never mind.... ;)

Hoorah for sandals.
Maybe they had date palms. The fronds are really sharp.
In North Africa, they are commonly used for making huts. Mature leaves are also made into mats, screens, baskets and fans. Processed leaves can be used for insulating board. Dried leaf petioles are a source of cellulose pulp, used for walking sticks, brooms, fishing floats and fuel. Leaf sheaths are prized for their scent, and fibre from them is also used for rope, coarse cloth, and large hats.

8 track mind fits, where do you come up with this stuff, you know they wanted Jesus to come, they needed a deliverer, they were put in terrible circumstances, they thought Jesus was going to overthrow the government or save in a different way, they never expected Jesus to save us all, by going to the cross, still they only understood things of this world, like so many today, we haven to widen our concepts and mind and see the spiritual things God wants us to see.
