Actually Christ's message was the 11th commandment. Love each other as Christ loved the church. His whole appearance on this earth was redemption oriented. He would never have pointed to himself but to his Father.

God is desperate for a relationship with his children. He will do anything to reconcile himself with those whom he loves. And through Jesus he did just that.
