I was thinking about majoring in physical therapy so I could help people with neuromuscular disorders or in drug abuse psychology so I could help people addicts and homeless people. Or majoring in theology and teaching. What do you guys think?

all of the suggestions so far , have been good and I think it's wonderful that you're trying to choose where you can do the most help. I just want you to know that whatever you do, do well, becasue you are serving the Lord in that position . Even if you were a cashier somewhere, you would be serving the Lord as a cashier.

Between the choices you have listed, I would probably pick physical therapy. Although I would love to study theology myself, there's probably a lot more jobs out there and a better chance of getting hired with phy. therapy.

You should do that, God gives everyone a calling if you feel this is yours then you should do it, Pick what you think best will serve the Lord and you will be blessed in what you do. I know there are alot of people out there struggling, being homeless and addictions, that is when people most need the Lord in thier lives, that is usually when we can reach them, and you will be doing something good on both parts, there are alot of counselors that teach sobriety, but not through The Lord, We need more desciples to teach Gods word with healing. You can reach so many more with any field you choose. Pray to God for your answer, before we make decisions we should always go to The Lord, God Bless you in your decision.

Theology maybe, but not physical therapy. Don't get hung up on helping the physical need of people. That is a major trick by Satan to lead people away from ministry-not into it.

God did not call you to help the homeless, or the drug addict, or to help the downtrodden-that is the biggest mistake many well meaning people make. It makes you "feel" like you are doing good. God wants you to lead people to Christ, not put a roof on their house. Think about it.

Careers do not serve the Lord. People serve the Lord in the career that they choose. A pastorship does not serve the Lord...it is the pastor himself that serves the Lord in the position. An office job does not serve the Lord, but a person in an office job can serve the Lord with how they work. It sounds like you want a humanist job - just serve the Lord as you seek to do.

Blessings in the Light of Christ!

Whatever you do if you take on the creed I am not here to make a living but living to make a difference where ever you work people will be drawn to the God in you. If you want hands on PT or OT. All the careers you mentioned are good. Did you consult God?

Any career serves the Lord if you serve the Lord in your career. It's all up to you. Are you working to make money or to be a servant as Jesus was a servant? No matter what the job is you can serve people.

Why not have a full time job in religous communities? like office clerk, etc. or, work in charitable organizations like World Vision, Caritas, etc.. This is indirectly serving the Lord for this is working for the less fortunate brothers and sisters.

Hope this helps. God bless you!

The truth is God uses every career to bring people to Christ.
Remember Jesus was a carpenter.

I like the physical therapy idea. I believe God uses them too, to heal and to relieve pain.

Hello,
Any of the ideas you mentioned are excellent ways of serving God. God gives each of us unique gifts and talents. If God has planted in your heart a desire to minister through the ways you've mentioned, simply do it with Him first.
If your vocation and avocation are designed to minister to others and to glorify God, you will find a deep inner joy.
One final tip, just do what you love with what God has gifted you with and to His glory and you'll be a great worker as well as minister. Remember, we all all called to minister, the ways we do this are as varied as the unique gifts we have been given.

You can incorporate your ministry into any career you choose: live by example and witness to others. We all have our very own ministry--you never know who are you influencing by the way you conduct yourself! Good luck and may God Bless you! <><
