If it were revealed that Jesus of Nazareth was gay, would you remain a Christian?

Again, this is an honest question...

Oh my Sister Cordelia, I'm flattered.

To the rest: Thanks to those who thought their answers thorough.

And to those who were unable to: Good luck with that...

Yup, your sexuality has nothing to do with who you are, or the message you are trying to spread.

There is nothing wrong with being gay, they arent any less perfect than the rest of us.

Other than what William D (I think he's got the Best Answer by far) said, it seems that you believe being gay as similar to gender or color. This is incorrect. Contrary to political correct thinking, scientific research, and the stats to whom I refer are from gay male researchers, indicate that noone is born gay, so Jesus couldn't have been either (Bailey and Pillard's monozygotic twin studies from the 90's, and even LeVay and Hamer had to admit that environmental influences were significant) Although people don't really choose to be same sex attracted, similar to how alcoholics don't choose their predeliction, they can choose to live or not live a gay lifestyle, and even actually experience a shift or change in their sexual inclinations (Spitzer 1999, Jones and Yarhouse 2007). I know for sure this is true since I have.

What a great question! However, any attempt at making these fanatics think, will turn them into fire spitting and Bible chanting idiots every time

Jesus was a free thinker. He loved EVERYONE without a judgment. So, why would we not treat HIM the same way? BTW, being gay does not change anyone's holiness. It is a part of someone's genetic makeup just like the color of his / her skin. So, if you are a bigot, your sexual orientation would not make much difference at all.

Hey, what difference would it really make. He was a great spiritual leader in his time. He is also the son of God. So why would I not continue to love him.

This whole gay thing and Christianity is way, way out of hand. God made us and loves us all.

Of course I would. I would also remain a Christian if he were revealed to have sired a daughter or if the Crucifixion were revealed to be a hoax. His teachings are what is important to me.

Of course.

Check out Matthew 25:31-46.

It doesn't matter whether He was or not, as we treat others (including gays), so we treat Him.

Of course I would, because regardless of whether he was gay or straight, he did not and would not have acted on his sexual urges, since to do so would have been a sin, either way. Jesus was sinless. It's a sin to have sexual interaction outside of marriage.

Honest? I think I see seeds of deceit here. But no---Christ could not have been gay---and was not gay---you gotta stop reading Davinci Code and read the scriptures more.

I am constantly amazed at the theories flying. Christ was married to Mary---and had a baby---no, no, Christ was familiar with John---who laid his head on Christ's breast. Give me a break. I am sick of the theories.

Thanks for the opportunity to answer. If Christ were gay---he would not have been THE CHRIST foretold in scriptures. Now would he?

Totally. He didn't sin sexually with the men or the ladies or even by lusting --- He was *totally* chaste--- so it doesn't matter a whit to me if He was gay or straight.
